Yet, it grows wild everywhere. In the villages where charas is produced they have lookouts, and when the local police come to do a burnout, they will give them some money to go away. Only when the federalos come it is an issue. Honestly, I dont know what is the issue. There are sadhus smoking chillum everywhere on the street and as long as you are not an idiot about it, charas is widely available.

Leopold established control over a foreign territory with the explicit purpose of advancing his own wealth, which is the definition of colonialism. The thing is, as a king, he didn't do it for the nation of Belgium, but rather for his personal gain. The Belgian government had little to no say in how he ruled what essentialy became his private territory.

As such, it's both colonialism and a single person at the root of this all.

Yep. I worked on a dairy farm for about 10 years and we had the odd freemartin sneak through into the replacement heifers. You don't find out until the artificial insemination technician tries to inseminate her and things aren't right (I can't exactly remember what they find in there. Might have been no cervix?) Wastes a lot of time and money raising a useless cow.
