At least their religion has some basis in reality, even if they got the details wrong.

Reply to TIL that between 1895 and 1908 the population of the Belgian Congo declined by between 2 and 13 million due to colonial brutality and diseases caused by colonialism. by hetkleinezusje
Why don't you even bother to get the facts about this thread title right?
1885-1908, not 1895. And also not Belgian Congo, but Congo Free State. Congo was annexed by the Belgian government and became a colony in 1908 because of the atrocities committed by its King.
edit WTF with the downvotes, it's literally in the title OP linked and the first sentence of the first paragraph.

It was supposed to be the last book. The plan was for 6 books on Odyssey 2: Aquatic Boogaloo and then 6 books on Iliad 2: the Italyad.
The Aeneid is mostly finished. There are scenes missing here and there, and it should have more fleshed-out of an ending than "He killed the bad guy. The end." But for the most part Virgil was able to tell the story he wanted to tell.

Was going to say the same. It was my introduction to Christopher Moore 25 years ago and have read everything of his since. It’s hilarious

I've dealt with anxiety and depression since I was a little kid also. I'm sure it all gets mixed together in the recipe to produce who I am.

Reply to comment by Anti-theist999 in TIL tomb raiding is a big problem in China that looters sometimes find historically significant sites first. For instance the tomb of the famed 3 Kingdoms-era general, Cao Cao, was discovered in 2008 after police inspected the stolen goods of a bunch of robbers, who then led them to an unknown tomb. by Khysamgathys
China would have been better off if he just won at the Red Cliffs. Liu Bei's dogmatic stand for legitimacy just cast China into so many more years of war. Cao Cao could have unified China and restored peace, but there was another century of pointless war afterwards. It was the Sima clan that won in the end anyways.

People are shitting on Cao Cao, not Mao. I kinda doubt the CCP is behind these downvotes. It is weird though.

Yes and we humans named our species " Wise Men"
A better name would have been Pan Narrans, "Storytelling Ape".

Same bs, but since it's routed in culture most people don't realise it.

You should not buy bhang in large quantities, it's not nearly a good thing to do more than once a month.

The voting age was lowered in constitutional amendment even. Also many states had a drinking age of 21 and 29 states lowered it (or partially lowered it) to 18, until the federal government stepped in and forced states to raise it back to 21 in the 80s.
