Can we at least admit the common sense of it all? If you're in a busy career, you have no time for family including spouses and children. The children are eventually raised by nannies, babysitters, and Disney+. That seems to have worked so well for Gen Z kids. /s

Maybe she thought it would be WILDLY disrespectful to trained journalists...people who spent years in school and long careers honing their craft. Probably also thought that confusing the general public wasn't the best idea in the world. And look, she was right. We elected a reality show host.
I'm sure she COULD do it. But you CAN do lots of things you shouldn't do.

And yet, there is a full explanation describing how you doubled down.
Weird how unconvincing denying reality is, isn’t it.

Never did double down. Asked a question. Got an answer. Been dealing with Karens like you being upset about it ever since. Dunno why you've doubled down on being a Karen about it. Try the grass thing.

Slow and never-ending. That said, although NO diagnosis of GBS is a walk in the park, her's was pretty damn brutal. We almost lost her on more than one occassion. She has regained a great deal but also deals with daily pain, neuropathy, and a wide range of cognitive, balance, and other issues. There are a couple of on-line support groups she is in contact with. Can't give you guidance on these as she came upon them on her own, and given how much she has regained control over, I try to remain at arms length unless things go off the rails. What's the saying, "although she be small, yet she be mighty"? That's my woman!

Wow, you ask a lot of questions for someone who gets upset by answers.
I’d answer the questions individually, but it think it might break your brain if I gave that many answers. The answers basically boil down to:
You were curious about where you doubled down, and I told you.
And
You’re vastly overestimating how invested I am in this conversation.

Karen, you insulted me before i ever responded in kind. Why are you so mad that i asked a question and got an answer? What about it is so fucking hurtful to you? Why can't you live with the fact that i didn't know something, and i asked for it, and someone told it to me straight? Why are you so emotionally distraught over the fact that i found something out without googling it? Are things okay at home? Do you remember what grass feels like to the touch? Why won't you just see a therapist?
The mysteries in this thread are endless.

Yeah, you asked how you doubled down, and then I started right after that by answering the question.
Not how “starting it” works, but hey, you’re trolling so facts aren’t really relevant at this point.

Is there some reason Jim Carrey couldn’t follow journalistic standards?
Why would I trust someone I’ve never heard of to follow journalistic standards any more than Jim Carrey?

Would you take Jim Carrey seriously if he was reporting the news? That's why. Journalism requires a bunch of ethics you need to follow in order to limit any complaints or conflicts of interests.

Correct, but the part you quoted doesn’t have anything to do with death of the author, it’s just a more general statement about abstract art.

> even most abstract artists approach their work with very specific political and social and ideological angles to their work even if it doesn’t seem like it.
Death of the author does not even slightly imply that the author has no agency or purpose. It just means that the author's agency or purpose is not primary or important to anyone but they themselves.

That's a fair point. I would say that if I don't understand the meaning of something there are two options. 1) There is a meaning that I am not seeing, or 2) there is no meaning.
To continue with your analogy, I could also hit random keys on a keyboard for hundreds of pages. If I use the spacebar liberally and make vowells a bit more frequent, it could appear like a foreign language, but it would, in fact, be meaningless. How would I determine if it's a language or nonsense? Well first I might ask if anybody can read it. If I'm sceptical of people claiming to read it, I might ask if two people can arrive at the same meaning independently. If no one can read I might look for patterns that that are suggestive of language and see if it can be deciphered.
Clearly some things are meaningless (rock, chewed up gum, etc), but I'd love to be wrong about any art that I consider meaningless. I'd love for someone to be able to show me clear, non-BS meaning to a piece I thought was meaningless. That's an opportunity for me to grow and widen my perspective, but someone has to actually show me the meaning first. Until then I will argue passionately that it has none.

A journalist was once a highly respectable career/job requiring academic and professional credentials. Now, it's near the bottom along with used car salesman and social media influencer.
