That's the great thing about cinema: perception is reality.

I mean why? It's a bit of their god from the time he did the thing he's most famous for. It's not they are disrespecting his sacrifice or something

My grandfather was like this. He looked 60 at 70, and 80 at 95. Starting around 96 his body started playing catch up though and when he died at 100 he looked 100.

It is crazy driving to Volcanoes National Park. Rain forest until the summit of Kīlauea then within a mile or so, desert.

Many founding fathers were "observant", that's not the same as "devoted" or even "believing". Nearly all were "Enlightenment" thinkers, and many were Freemasons. All had grown up under state religions. Their "Freedom of religion" was more about freedom FROM religion.
Edit: spelling

I'm not familiar with the nomination process but do you mean in a symbolic way? His performance wasn't Oscar worthy... I agree he's had a long career and probably hasn't been recognized, but really an Oscar nominations for that role?

Where I come from, when there is this kind of irrational "hate"/ antipathy towards a person/culture/group that it's firmly rooted, we claim it's due to subconscious envy. Kind of like when a comment hurts even tho it's true but you don't want to accept it.
