Wikipedia surfing, in relation to something I heard about the voting franchise in Northern Ireland being behind the rest of the UK in giving one man(/person), one vote.

I was surprised as we covered a lot of the Northern Ireland stuff in school but mainly starting in 1972, and the parliament and its dissolution wasn't mentioned at all. It seems a fairly substantial thing to just ignore and not teach in the slightest, and definitely important in understanding where problems started from.

And I have never heard it brought up during any of the coverage of northern Ireland at all. Seems a very odd thing to ignore.

Johnny Walker also has an intentionally crooked label, it was originally supposed to be an indicator for intoxication. If the label looks straight, it’s time for bed. But it became their signature because it made it easier to find in the stores. (I made that middle part up, welcome to the internet.)

Cool as fuck to watch a pro do it too, a bit of black powder and something to seal the anvil - looked like peanut butter, then attach cable to battery hit switch then a PING noise then look up fast... iirc they are like 45# and go farther up than you would think with the amount of powder they used.

Oscar nominations are about the narrative of the actors in question as much as the performance. JLC in particular is a good example, where she was getting pushed ahead of Stephanie Hsu, who had the better performance in the film.

I agree that his performance wasn't quite enough, but it's also not far off. If it was a bit bigger, and he didn't have Ke Huy Quan as a costar who's considered the biggest lock this year to win, I'm saying it's feasible.

With so much of the Oscars being the campaigning and glad handling, I think just his personality alone could get him close.
