Reply to TIL: 5 pin bowling was invented in Canada - and is mostly only played in Canada by sammer003
Played 5 pin for the first time this winter. My gf in Canada was surprised to hear that we don't have it at all in the states. It's a lot of fun, I prefer it to 10 pin

Ohh I thought it was freshwater. I've seen this happen to many rivers in my home country (Bangladesh). Even Lake Ontario's getting more polluted as the days go by. But yea, I was surprised no one was talking about it lol

Old band shirts are definitely worth something, especially if they're originals!

There is no scientific backing for that MSG is dangerous. None of the claims have been proven.
We know clearly that cyanide is dangerous.

From what I’ve gathered, that's them acknowledging that they know you’re playing with them, or that they’re having fun. Mine gets belly scratches every morning, and will sometimes sneeze right in my face!

So dogs are not evolved from grey wolves they are sister taxa, they share a common ancestor (Scientific American). African wild dogs also share the same common ancestor.
From the article:
> Analyzing whole genomes of living dogs and wolves, last January's study revealed that today's Fidos are not the descendants of modern gray wolves. Instead the two species are sister taxa, descended from an unknown ancestor that has since gone extinct. “It was such a long-standing view that the gray wolf we know today was around for hundreds of thousands of years and that dogs derived from them,” says Robert Wayne, an evolutionary geneticist at the University of California, Los Angeles. “We're very surprised that they're not.” Wayne led the first genetic studies proposing the ancestor-descendant relationship between the two species and more recently was one of the 30 co-authors of the latest study, published in PLOS Genetics, that debunked that notion.

Yes, but don't bowl much - just for fun with a few friends 1 or 2 twice a year. When we last went, there were no smaller - lighter 10 pin bowling balls in our lanes or nearby. We asked the staff and they just said to look for them. But we didn't want to take them from others that were already using them for their kids.
So we booked 5 pin! Everyone had fun!

If you buy a barstool and lift it ten times a day, as it grows into an armchair you will grow stronger.

You know they have different weight bowling balls? Also, having a bowling ball cut to your hand size makes a huge difference. People that struggle to control 14lb house balls may have no problem using a 26lb personal ball

Reply to TIL in 1979, in between a double-header, the White Sox exploded a crate filled with disco records to stands of over 50k disco haters. If this event helped end disco music, it was probably worth it.
