Came here to cross-post to r/Malazan and ascendancy (of course, Malazan doesn't allow cross-posts)

Reply to TIL that Barq's Root Beer was first created by Edward Barq in Biloxi, Miss, in 1897. In 1934, Barq and a former employee, who moved to New Orleans, agreed to each distribute their own version of the root beer, with the New Orleans version having a red label and the Biloxi version having a blue one. by jdward01
Blue label is still on the shelf in NOLA, slightly creamier with more sassafras. Found it tonight after I read this

Ancient Latin didn't have lowercase letters or word order. You have to decipher it from conjugations and context.

I learned it the other way around in my history of books class. Documents were writing without spacing and punctuation because they were meant to be read aloud.

There was a Catholic Priest who argued that enough people believed something it would happen. And that The Secret book was about the same idea.

That's a whole other can of worms. Different people invented different planes all around the same time and its debatable who did what first. But if you can tell me who you believe "invented the airplane", I'll tell you how they got military funding for it

It may show a positive result in a basic test depending on how much you eat and the time between consumption and testing. It will not fool a quality lab test.

I'm missing nothing. Popeye's Chicken is far superior in every way.
AND they're not Christian fundamentalist assholes.

Ok, thanks.
You are correct about Appert (bottled food). The Wright brothers did not invent the airplane.

In 1936, Johnstown, Pa had a flood (not to be confused with the larger, more devastating 1889 Johnstown flood) that killed dozens and did about $43 million of property damage.
Pennsylvania started a tax to cover the damages. At the time it was 10% of all liquor sales.
As of 2019, the Johnstown Flood tax was still in effect - only it had grown to 18%. I don't know if it's in place today. I'm sure some Pennsylvanian knows.

Is the approval by a formal council or does a thought leader just refer to the deceased as divine and it becomes generally accepted?

It happens frequently when the legislative branch fails to pay the budget. Any elected offical or appointee of the governor won’t have their checks issued by the State Controller’s Office until the budget is passed.
