TIL of Mimizuka, a shrine in Kyoto, Japan dedicated to 68,000 Korean and Chinese noses collected during Toyotomi Hideyoshi's invasions of Korea in the 1590s. The Japanese killed at least 1 million Koreans & Chinese during the wars and collected at least 215,000 heads.

TIL When the printing press made its debut in Europe in the 15th century, thousands of old texts were 'recycled' for use as binding material for newer books. In 2015, researchers at Leiden University started using an x-ray technique to reveal these texts. Some are up to 1,300 years old.

TIL that although the TV Series "I Dream of Jeannie" was never a hit for NBC, when it went into syndicated reruns independent stations in New York and Washington DC ran it in Prime Time and won their time slots against all shows on NBC, CBS and ABC. This was a first for a non-network show.
