My husband and I love going out to the movies, and I'm wondering if the members of this subreddit have any personal favorite theaters they'd be kind enough to recommend!

Edit: Wow! Thank you all so much for the suggestions, I can't wait to check these out.

Essex Cinemas is a stand-out movie theater with friendly employees, good screens and comfortable seats, and a rewards program; back when I still lived in the Burlington area, I would go to a movie there about once a week

8' screen on a 5-hour, southbound JetBlue flight. I hate theaters, but you would too if you were 6'6.

Palace on Shelburne road, not for the building, but for the Fathom Events shows.

Middlebury Marquis. They have real butter on their popcorn and the best hidden burrito stand I have seen in Vermont.

Check out their Tuesday prices: $5! Theyโ€™re running animated, live action, and documentary shorts nominated for Oscars. Saw the animated shorts last week; gonna check out the live action shorts next week.

My wife calls our Tuesday excursions โ€œTightwad Tuesday.โ€

The Savoy is a lovely intimate theater and you can rent out their basement screen to show whatever you like, too! Great party space.

Essex cinema hands down, best seats, clean, stadium seating, nothing better in this state.

I know itโ€™s been posted a few times, but it can not be said enough! The savoy in Montpelier is the most magical theater in VT.

Big Picture in Waitsfield. Couch seats, and a good restaurant attached. I'm pretty sure you can bring your dinner into the theater and there is some seating with tables.

Palace 9, not too busy and very reasonably priced. Especially on Tuesday where a movie ticket is only 5$

I miss Trash Tuesdays SO MUCH. Exactly the kind of thing I want to see there.

I adore the Savoy, but they definitely go through periods where the programming is a little vanilla for what I want from an indie theater like that.

Wish they did more with underground, artsier fare. Still my favorite theater by far, though. Happy to be a member.

I was so bummed that I only learned about Trash Tuesdays relatively near the end of it, I only got to go to a handful.

I believe the only reason they stopped doing it was that the host moved away, so I bet if someone reached out to the Savoy willing to host, they might be up to do it again.

Yeah I forget their name, but they were great!

Just wish they'd play more things like Midsommar, Titane, Men, etc. In a bit of a lull for me right now.

Given that, any time their programming has been in a real groove I've reached out just to say I was excited about it, and they've always been super responsive and receptive to feedback.

It's a hard balance to strike with artier/cultier fare and the more subdued stuff. I get a lot of Montpelier demographics may not be thrilled about, say, Infinity Pool, but that was one I was shocked they didn't pick up, that I recall.
