I feel for you and your land and everyone else here with similar issues. My parents' property doesn't even have any sprawling fields and people still loiter all over our yard because they have one of the nicest access points to the battenkill. We give permission to people that ask, but I can't believe the audacity of some. Not just tourists either. The area obviously someone's front or side lawn, idk why so many think any open area is public. I always make sure I'm not trespassing when I'm out and about, why can't others do the same?

All mine have manufactured dates in them, and I kept the sales receipts for the ones I bought just before the horseshit law was passed.

SUNY Potsdam did the same for me for my undergrad! I left there after 4 years with minimal student debt compared to some of my friends that went elsewhere.

That's literally Vermont. Snow and nothing to do. Unless you know what to do.
You're very underprepared. Maybe try again next year.

You can use it but can't sell it or give it away in state.

The burden of proof is on the prosecutor in the extremely unlikely event that any attempt is made to charge you.
That said, some magazines have date stamps that can prove age. It would be pretty much impossible to prove that you owned the magazine (in Vermont) prior to the law coming into effect.

I actually got pulled over for exactly this. I had been living in Colorado and drove back east to visit my father. We were headed to the store one day and I drove by a cop. He immediately turned on his lights, pulled a u turn and pulled me over.
He came up to the window like a cop, “do you know why I pulled you over”.
I said yeah I do, you saw I didnt have a sticker, looked in your rear view and saw a green plate, thought it was a VT plate and pulled me over.
He admitted it, asked for my license and registration which I showed him and sent me on my way. Now that I think about it. Fuck that cop.

They got caught doing this in the early 90’s. They were accepting out of state students over in state with the same credentials to get the higher out of state tuition.

Good response here.
You could also ask r/legal even though it is state specific.

Edit: Read some of the comments and damn there are some destructive people so understand at this point. It's too bad. So take what I say below as the perspective of someone who is nieve about idiots and a LNT minded person.
Posted signs were one of the few things that I actually hated about VT. Coming from ME they were few and far between so encountering them was always jarring. In maine there was a joke that you knew when an out of stater moved in. The for sale sign went down, no trespassing go up.
What I found frustrating is the law is the same. Open permission unless posted, and landowner absolved of liability.
Now I get no hunting, trapping or any sort of activity that damages or relieves a person of something on thier land.....but just blatantly posting land that is wild and never seen just seems stingy. I admit, i am one of the bad ones, I did trespass often but never hurt or took anything. I would often see a nice trek on a topo and go without regard for the 15-20 lands I would cross, especially if only one was posted. That said....it was usually once or twice a year, the posted signs were blank with no ownership so wasn't going to waste my time trying to figure out the owner if I was only passing through for 20min.
Maybe I should ask, why do you feel the need to post your land against all uses? Why not selective?

You can still use it. (See linked fact sheet below)
Also, grandfathered in has racist origins. (See linked origin below)

You would be better off just using the lower capacity ones whenever you're in a situation where someone might be questioning you about it.

As someone who just left their position in UVM administration, pretty much can confirm. They intentionally keep the unions at a level of manageable ignorance of how their systems and policy work, there's no mechanism for pay raises, and they want people to quit versus argue or change. Good riddance.

Equity means nothing if you love the place you live, don't plan on ever selling and want to spend the rest of your years there. I understand what you're saying. People shouldn't be forced out due to the burden of taxes. Our house is not worth that much BTW not unless we have another covid buying frenzy and people's heads aren't right due to fear.

This 100% depends on your major/program of study. There are lots of great undergrad majors that grad school doesn't make sense for and lots of selective grad programs that won't take students who went to community college only. But yeah, it's all overpriced in the us.

Ferro on Main St in Stowe is great. My husband proposed with his great grandmother’s engagement ring which we had appraised, resized, and restored. They were knowledgeable, sweet, and did a wonderful job at a reasonable price. Katie’s in Montpelier is also a great little shop and is worth checking out. I have had a restoration done there and they do appraisals as well.
