Luckily I think we snuck in some really good stuff in the last legislative term right? Like, iirc by-right 4plex creation and 1/8 acre minimum lots if you're on town water and sewer? Or am I totally off base there?
Either way seeing our State work with the Congress for the New Urbanism was really encouraging. There's a way to keep an authentic Vermont that isn't unlivable and I think there's the will there if we just keep hope.
Well beans I think I was wrong here. Maybe this year!

It's really just a way to one-up your peers. I did this hard thing, so hire me.

Deadass Randolph had like over 5 and that’s a town of 2000+ people. I’d pretty much navigate/ give directions using the steeples as landmarks when I lived there

Uh oh. Wikipedia deep dive incoming.
reads
Oh yuck it's a State flag.
Maybe it's a sign that we too could get back to a good flag someday?

It’s something I always brag about to friends from out of state. I always tell them that you can go to the coolest hiking trail or a really quaint park or an amazing waterfall and you’ll have the place to yourself. You might see a few other people but maybe see none. Everywhere I ever went in Colorado that was awesome was packed with people same for Massachusetts. Vermont there are just less of us

Definitely. It's one of the few times in life you can live wherever you want.

I moved here 2 years ago from Florida. I’ve always been into punk/hardcore/metal so I started seeking out shows/bands in the state and was absolutely delighted to find out that VT hardcore is commonly referred to as “Maple Violence” as a genre and I’ve never been more in love with a two word phrase.

I imagine they would leave anyhow unless they land remote jobs. Pennsylvania subsidized my education, but I'm never going back there. Better to have NY subsidize your kids' educations than VT

I think you would get more responses if you could narrow it down to your favorite things to do, where you’ve been in the past, a region of the state. Help us by narrowing it down somehow or are you just asking a thousand people to all name their favorite?

some of my ideas:
no billboards
hundreds of miles of shoreline on the largest non-great lake in the continental united states. the other side of the lake is rural adirondack ny and the lake is notably clean and deep
one of the strongest agricultural reputations in the world. international beer and cheese awards frequently go to vermont artisans. as well as the dairy expertise, a lot of prime grade a farmland.
one of the most citizen-centric political systems in country

This happened at the federal/national level with student loans, but since VT competes with other states, maybe not.

I don’t really care what anyone else does. I was pointing out that it is a racist phrase. You can do what you want with that information. I was simply providing facts for people to use in their decision making process.
If you noticed my post was exactly two facts with citations. Nothing else.

Got to observe a stoat up close from a basement window a few years ago in Pittsfield. So cool! Never saw one or heard of them before. Don’t expect to ever see one again…

That’s fine. Just pointing out the phrase has a racist origin. You do you though.

K enjoy Vermont turning into Detroit and/or suffering from Detroit syndrome with no young working families to replace the aging workforce and unaffordable housing with that mindset, nimby boomer 👋🏼
