I don’t care for chain restaurants. Frankly I don’t trust them. And I don’t like their food. However, having said that, though I like to support locally owned restaurants, here in southern Vermont they have become so exorbitantly expensive that I feel I’m being unfairly ripped off. So now I support neither- and have simply learned to be a better cook at home. I’m healthier for it and I save money. Pizza is easy.

I never said “oh, by the way”. I posted exactly two facts with citations. No opinion added, no take added, two facts with citations. Maybe you are reading into it and projecting but it doesn’t change the fact, you can keep using the clips and the phrase grandfathered in has racist origins.

What would your preferred approach to letting someone know the language they are using has a racist origin be. Nobody ever said the dude was racist, nobody implied he was being a dick. You jumped to a conclusion based on your own bullshit and now you are here on record with a long string defending people being able to use racist language because it hurt your feeling to be told about it. Not really a great look.

i wasn’t asking my question rhetorically

i view paper and pencil as analagous as art-making tools

my understanding of the law regarding art reproduction seems to be different than u. i guess ais alter images prior to delivery. if that’s the case, assuming the amount of alteration is sufficient, i don’t see any infringement

They do have to be dated.

"Don't want to change a thing...."

"We need more housing and economic growth..."

Folks, there's nothing special or unique about Vermont compared to a dozen other states. The difference is Vermont has chosen to protect and insulate itself from the very type of growth y'all excoriate when you go to other states.

There are other mountainous states (seriously, the mountains in Idaho make those in Vermont look like cute little bumps). There are other rural and pastoral states. There are other cold weather states.

But Vermont has been able to escape much of those growth and development which has, frankly, ruined some of those other states. But that comes at a cost - which is expensive housing, poor infrastructure, and lack of economic opportunity. Vermont is a gated resort, and that's the charm.

You start to go down the path of embracing growth and development, it will absolutely look just like everywhere else (otherwise it would be too expensive and wouldn't pencil out).

Fair warning from someone watching their state be decimated by growth and development.

absolutely. i hope so too. i know a lot of people are working hard to put the right resources in the right places. and my sense is that vermont is doing an admiral, certainly with room for improvement, job of navigating its dairy heritage and present day realities with the lake’s needs.

The sap gets on everything and makes it hard to cut. Also makes it hard to burn. No one wants white pine wood.

They drop needles year round and have a time in the spring that pollen dusts everything for weeks.

But most of all they grow too big for themselves. Huge branches will just break off randomly making them dangerously uneven and just ugly.

So I have a question and hope it won’t offend anyone, my husband and I and our kids have been vacationing in VT, NH and Maine for many years, my husband as a child would visit with his parents, few months ago we bought a second home here in VT the people we encounter with seem very nice always friendly, very welcoming but it seem when I come to this group almost feel like we are nuisance, and vermonters would rather us not be here. We don’t live for free here we pay bills and we pay our taxes we don’t take jobs away from VT people, we hire local people to do work in our home. Again never met anyone that hasn’t been kind and friendly.
