We plan on it and this comment makes no bearing on my decision to do so. Just thought it was funny and figured I'd ask.

I could understand that, but what I don't understand is that we're currently in South Dakota, which I would dare say has a bigger reputation for such. Racist white people roam the prarie more often than buffalo out here.
For clarification, I am white but my wife is Hispanic.

Apparently she didn't clarify and this isn't someone she's ever worked with. It's possible she was a traveling nurse

This is what I'm guessing -- I've met a fair few conservatives who think that Vermont is a modern day Sodom and Gomorrah.

Do you know the political affiliation of your wife's coworker? Because I've found that some conservative people think that Vermont is the home of Fully Automated Luxury Gay Socialism where we happily murder newborn babies in retroactive abortion while we dance naked around a bonfire.

*I* don't know *any* socialists. But I do identify as a coastal elite.

I worked in the Saint Albans plant and almost never got free pints. They are slave drivers. I hear Waterbury is better. Gradually getting worse since they sold out to Unilever. Excellent ice cream but I won't buy it on principle.

Could be anything. The only one that would be true is racism. Vermont is the whitest state, and while everyone likes to gloss over it, it’s fairly racist. Burlington, montepelier or a wealthy town will be very different than most of Vermont though.

I’ll have to tell my dad. I think he’s still in contact with them all and would love to see the place. I went to their old place in Waterville years and years ago. Very cool property and buildings

If by overflowing you mean like 2% socialist instead of .2% then maybe.

They are pretty big now and have moved largely from dairy to maple. Also turned they operation into a destination as much as a working farm, it is pretty impressive.

Just checked and Mayotte hasn’t tapped yet, or at least not my section of woods.

Since it’s just an opinion, I think she meant outdoorsy types with dogs who refuse to follow leash laws. You know the ones, they don’t keep their dogs on a leash and when they run around and jump up on strangers they say “ohhh he is friendly.” And then you need to say, that is awesome, but my 4 year old is still wicked allergic and now I’m going to need to undress before I go into the house and spend an hour vacuuming out the car so he doesn’t get hives next time he is in it.
Yeah, probably that.
Also, could be Republicans, Democrats, minorities, or white people depending on her politics and how racists she is.

My theory is that for some people, the reality of devastation that climate change can (and will) cause is so frightening that it’s just easier to kid themselves that it’s a good thing. Denial is super powerful and it’s a lot easier to swallow than the impending destruction of society as we know it.

My relative from Texas has told me that Vermont is overflowing with coastal elites, libtards, and socialists. Maybe that? Without knowing more about you and where you're coming from, it's hard to say.

Green Mountain Mainlines (Sloan) and Mayotte.
Supposedly GMM is the second biggest in the state but that’s just what my neighbor told me…
Mayotte taps my tees and last I checked my property hadn’t even been tapped yet. Heading out momentarily to check.
Didn’t realize the Brannons were so big. My dad use to hunt with the family at their camp in Waterville/Bakersfield and they definitely had lines back then but I don’t think it was a huge operation. Of course this was 20+ years ago

Which ones, I know the Brannons in Fairfield were boiling. They are one of the biggest producers in the state.

Sure, but I’ve heard from two huge makers at this point that 1.2 still isn’t worth it at that point.

I can't wait to see about three years worth of data. I'm going to drive my self crazy asking myself "What if we had done this 10 years ago?"

I'm willing to pay more to have it taxed and those taxes benefit my community. I'm willing to pay more for a regulated consistent product. I'm willing to pay more so that I can be 100% sure none of my money is funding anything sketchy or outright morally reprehensible. I'm guessing most VT weed people are local growers and sellers but being 100% sure feels better to me.

Given most large places use RO filters to refine the sap and only finish by boiling the lower sugar content is not too big a deal.
Even small ops can use fairly cheap ~200$ RO equipment to remove 40 to 60% of water preboil.

That's a good point, though comparative to SD, we'd still probably find it beautiful. I hear you have trees.
