I’d say you’re lucky to not yet understand why that’s a bad idea. Conditions change around every corner. The hills are steep and class 3 roads are barely usable when the storm has just hit. Even with studded snows, and chains, you’re bound to find yourself in a situation that will have you wishing you stuck to the paved roadways, or home. It seems that with elevated temps this year, paved roads will remain greasy the way we typically see them early and late season. That’s some white knuckle driving alone. Bundle up and take to your feet, or a true snow vehicle.

Something I can afford cheapest rent and food. Pay for car insurance and have a phone to communicate and maintain contact with my coworkers.

What’s the point of working a job for 40 hours a week if you can’t afford rent and food after it’s done?
Personally, I’d rather just go on welfare then be part of the working poor. Get more of my time back and still be poor.
I know you will hate this comment, but I don’t care about anybodys business if it won’t benefit me. Life is too short for that bullshit.
Also if anybody says “nobody wants to work” for why they are short staffed, if you raise pay, you will get people.
I have a great job now but if McDonald’s paid 150k. I’d quit my job tomorrow.

If a company can’t retain employees over times, that’s a red flag.

My FIL sugars every year and gives us a bottle of his maple syrup, but being from Louisiana I’ll stick to my molasses. Nothing like chewing on fresh sugar cane, come harvest time.

And that’s fine, but why does the better life have to be somewhere other than where they are? It’s a free country so they can do what they want, but EVERY blue voter that leaves a red or purple state makes that state worse. It further erodes the accountability of the leaders there. So they may find a better life here, but at the cost of making things worse where they are coming from.

Sadly you price isn’t too far off the mark a 5 acre lot with a 1980s mobile home on it in terrible condition sold for 300k just down the road from me.

Guy I’m left of Bernie. I’m just honestly sick of seeing liberals flee a fight. Eventually it’s gonna be a bunch of unarmed granola crunching artists afraid to hurt a bug filling up all of New England, and on the doorstep of out for blood, heavily armed, mouth breathing, moron, neo-Nazis. I don’t honestly like our odds if the conservatives in America keep getting more radical. The anti-fascists are dramatically outnumbered on the left by those doing everything they can to avoid fighting.

If you can pass the background check, don't mind being fingerprinted, and can deal with the chaos + lack of vacations when a lot of your coworkers will have time off, every school district I know of is looking for maintenance/custodial work right now. I don't know the exact details of each district, and I assume they're all slightly different, but pay should start around $18-20 an hour, should be $1 raise a year. Shifts are usually 7 am to 3 pm, 3 pm to 10 pm.
If you're qualified for things like plumbing, electrician, etc. You won't have any issue finding work. Those are always in demand.

Everyone says that and then they move to Vermont and end up being a burden anyway.
People are serious when they say there's a housing shortage for those who grew up in Vermont their whole lives as well as everyone else.

Not sure if it’s still being offered these days, but you used to be able to rent the Montpelier Rec Center gym for parties. Cheap and fun if you bring a bunch of balls or bikes and stuff.

Vermont is still cheaper than CT, MA, and many other places in NE. They're just looking for a better quality of life, not trying to displace anyone. That sucks though.
