They did the 1st time. The students chose "Ravens". Then some so-called adults on the school board took it as a personal attack on their Raider glory days and voted to change it back to Raiders.

The practice of scalping is very much in reference to the mass murder of Native Americans.

Have you? Because I lived in Rutland for 5 years and this mascot epitomizes the sights in my neighborhood morning, noon and night. Unless, of course, we want to add a Rutland County Sheriff chasing down said disheveled addict.

Not a single sentence on the cyber attack. Was it a ransomware? Was it just a burn attack? Was it sophisticated?

If you're really that curious, your answer is no more than an email away to either of these village/town governments.

OK, so now that’s two words that are not necessarily ‘native’ to Native Americans. See how ridiculous this is getting?

rutland is hella nicer than it was a decade or two ago. rutland is getting much nicer overall. yes, every town has ugly areas, and those are definitely still ugly. no, it is not getting worse overall, not even close.
the sky is not falling.

Out of curiosity, what do folks in VT pay for power? In CA I’m at around 25 cents off peak up to about 60 cents per kWh peak. Every time PG&E gets asked to do something, they do it, and raise our rates accordingly.

No, I'm saying, articles about the Rutland Raiders specifically. That is the opposite of cherry picking lol. Like, Vermont newspapers had headlines about the Rutland Raiders scalping their competition.

Cairns, Leddy, Stowe, Waterbury, Barre, Highgate, St Albans, Gutterson, Jay Peak, Rutland Mall, Middlebury x2 , Lyndon, Manchester. Morrisville and Milton's ice rinks folded. Where else are there indoor sheets?

Um, when you search definitions you get everything from Vikings, to ships, to pirates, to Civil War. So this is literally just a case of cherry picking your outrage.

indeed.. and there are other states.. which brings up rich context discussions... but the point is there are undoubtedly ways to better insulate the public good from corporate appetite in monopolistic Vt, and the PUC is just not up to it. https://www.arcgis.com/apps/View/index.html?appid=ffa0b6dce36249c78369a27f541af97c
CA has many more IOUs so one, say PG&E does not dominate legislature.
btw, PG&E w/ 67,000 sq. miles, 5.5M electricity customers & 4.5M Natgas customers, Over 20,000 employees, and serious annual disasters... VT / GMP is 150 employees.
PG&E CEO 2021 annual salar = $1.3M (ignore stock comp, etc) : and GMP CEO 2019 annual pay was $1.4M when she retired.
When PUCs, or towns, mandate IOUs to bury the power lines for safety, it gets done. Unfortunately, GMP effectively writes their own legislation.
Convince me I am wrong.

Have you asked the village leaders in Bellows Falls, or the town manager in Rockingham these questions? I'm sure they can provide the answers, especially if you're asking for a particular reason, which you did not share here.

Typically an incorporated village area will be subject to both the village and town government. Many town and villages have worked out agreements to share services.

Rutland hasn't had an actual mascot since the transition from the Native America to the arrowhead symbol

I’m from rural Texas and VT drivers are perplexing to me but I’ll take it over places where people drive super aggressively and scary. Although I did watch an Outback play chicken with an 18 wheeler on 7 yesterday.

They really are underappreciated. I know of a couple. They get paid very little and have to go and fix messed up situations at the drop of a hat.
