As you’re driving through town you’ll see a lot of different restaurants.

My favorite has always been Mr Darcy’s. Their parmesan truffle fries are to die for. I haven’t been since they changed ownership, though, so I can’t say if it’s still the same but they have great food and a good atmosphere.

DJ's. Great bar, excellent food.

If you're feeling like pizza Ludlow Village Pizza is my favorite although I will say a friend stopped in there back in the fall and wasn't that impressed. I haven't been since 2019 so can't say.

Kamouraska, just north of Québec City, is beautiful! As is the Charlevoix region :) if you don’t mind driving a bit further, the Gaspésie region is stunning! Or drive over to Nova Scotia - I love Cape Breton but there are so many gems all over the province.

New Haven, CT has lots of arts, culture, dining, cool architecture, great live music scene. Just made NYT “best places to visit in 2023 list”. The casinos in eastern CT (Mohegan, Foxwoods) are fun. In the summer, RI shoreline is lovely, highly recommend taking the ferry to Block Island and renting some bikes or scooters (limited cars on the island). Providence is another cool small city, with dining, arts, music, etc.

This is very doable if you’re willing to manage your power around the solstice or install a small standby generator. Any hybrid inverter will work, Sol-ark comes to mind first. It will manage your batteries and call on the generator only as a last resort.

Well, it's been my experience that town clerks have a sixth sense about these things (docs missing from their records), but I'd say the actual burden of proof on that falls to the forensic auditors.

VT digitizing records is relatively new compared to some other states. I believe they got funding from the CARES Act to do so.

Go to the card catolog indexes. They're sorted alphabetically by grantor/grantee name. Depending on the town, they'll be current (except for any docs received/submitted for recording 12/25/22 or later).

My understanding is that being off grid would require a huge amount of battery power and even then would often not provide sufficient power during winter.

That said, you can accumulate credits by selling power back to the grid to offset your winter bill. Friends up in Vergennes do just that—and pay next to nothing for electricity.
