We’re building outside of Burlington. It’s possible, but finding a great contractor has taken some time, and we probably paid more for the land than we should have. Once the house is done we’re moving to Vermont for good (from NJ). We want our kids to grow up there and to contribute to the community.

Wow, the post has been up 4 minutes already and we haven't had a single response saying "I saw one in <some New England location> - I know what I saw, Fish & Wildlife is denying it because of <some weird conspiracy> and there was that one hit by a car in Connecticut so I must be right!"

Such self-restraint by redditors!

Yup. When I sold my house in So Burlington (the orchards 60 year old ranch needed lots of work) and bought my place in the NEK (energy efficient cape built in 2006 by someone as a second home never lived in), I didn't even list it. My neighbors bought it as an investment. This was 2018 before covid. I was able to get a studio/garage built the next year by a local excellent contractor before crazy pricing. He had the excavator guy he worked with, the concrete guy, the electrically guy, the HVAC and garage door guys. He was efficient and worked by himself with one helper. I am so glad I did it when I did.

I would think the Adirondacks would be the best place in the east for reintroduction, especially the western Dacks, like the Five Ponds Wilderness Area. I’ve lived in cougar country in New Mexico and California when I worked for the US Forest Service. I think it would take a lot of education for folks to be comfortable with them in Vermont, honestly.

I have lived my entire life in vermont and my son is 16 and plays 3 sports against all the teams stated and at no point have I ever heard anything racist said! Have I heard questionable people say that things were said "Yes". I think that people are just trying make something that isn't there to seem more equitable! Just my opion

If you are close to Bolton go there they have 2 mid mountain doubles that have green trails. Once you progress you can go to the top on the quad and take a green all the way down.

FYI the safety glasses came about in a crisis. I happened to have them in the car on a long night-time drive in the rain. The air from the defroster was drying my eyes, making it tough to keep them open. The effect of the yellow ( polarized) lenses was a happy coincidence.
