Thank you. I guess that's one thing the two states have in common.

Very good advice. My only comment is that we have lost a bird or two with people outside- I walked to the far side of the house for a couple mins and a coyote got one. And we also had a hawk attack under similar circumstances, but that bird survived (long story)!

I have actually been wanting to live in the middle of nowhere, like back home in Montana. Don't want to live in a city. But it seems nothing is ever available except town homes.

FWIW, I genuinely appreciate your comment, snark aside. The Airbnb question ended up winning and I do want our reporting to reflect the reality of what is actually happening in VT.
Our episode on the housing crisis last year talked a lot about building more housing and (depending on the person speaking) how (in)effective that is if it's the only approach to "solving" the problem. And how some people want more regulation of short-term rentals.
Curious for your thoughts: Do you see more regulation of short-term as part of a solution? What other stories/reporting do you want represented in this episode?

"The Vermonter" 3,2,1 marg replace the simple with maple (it's gotta be good) and garnish with a hearty splash of real OJ. Goes down easy:)

Same with a coyote! I believe they are perfect steppers as well.

Add the seed of a fruit such a cherry to a Queen Ann's Coridal glass, then pour Champage down the drain... It's called a Queen City Pit.

Seems eveyone like OP comes here and wants to live in the most expensive populated area and cries when they can't find anything and would rather move back than look in cheaper areas. It's getting old.

You live in Middlebury, what do you expect?
you moved to one of the most expensive areas of the state outside of Chittenden county

Not specifically a Vermont cocktail, but since it's cold out try a hot toddy. Use some Cold Hollow apple cider in place of water.

Rutland is within an hour of Middlebury and inexpensive compared to other parts of the state.

You are in one of the most expensive towns in the state... Look further out in the small rural towns for a house that needs fixing up.

Great walking up there regardless whether one is on the Norwich U or Northfield town lands - any time of year too!
