Were they just flashes? I saw orange flashes/lights zig zag across the night sky a few times when I lived in the Thetford area years ago. I have no idea what they were though - unidentified aerial phenomenon :)

Unfortunately as someone who hired teachers in the past, this is a sad reality. Have hired wonderful candidates only to have them call three weeks before school starts and tell me they can’t find housing.

My crystal ball is in the shop right now, but you have a pretty good chance of snow anywhere in VT in January. And it’s likely to be bitter cold too. Not sure what kind of parks you want, but snow and cold are going to make playgrounds largely unusable, and those with walking paths are mostly not cleared of snow and ice.

You shouldn’t move here if you’re expecting to thrive on a teachers salary in VT (excluding higher ed). We’ve all been making sacrifices here, but I wish you luck finding a good job.

I'm three years into living in Vermont and gave up on a lot of the foods I enjoyed pretty quickly - with German food being the most painful loss. Von Trapp's is good, but doesn't scratch the itch the places in Florida did - it's more expensive and has a more uptight feeling to it. I'd love some spaetzle, currywurst, and a doner kebab, but I find that I have to go out of state to get those things. I understand that you can get those things fairly reliably in Montreal - but haven't explored that yet.
