4th generation Vermonter here—we also want the guns to go. And want to end the opioid addiction epidemic. Believe it or not it’s possible to hold multiple positions at the same time—go figure.

I like guns, I think the issues are more in a lack of mental health resources than the presence of guns. My family has had guns in the family since before my father was born and to this day not one was used to hurt somebody (one dog though, keep your dogs on a leash if you're not going to train them)

Yup I can see your point there. It’s just very important that we be as precise in our language as possible regarding hunting/ hunters especially when it comes to media and peoples perceptions of hunting and conservation. There’s definitely a trend where certain media sources use the word “hunter” in negatively or loosely when “poacher” is a more accurate description. I think we can all agree the person who shot the eagle is a dirtbag with little regard for anything let alone wildlife. Hopefully they get caught and charged.

The OP sounds like he doesnt like the mind your own business part of VT. Ive for a neighbor who has hunting dogs. They live outside. Some nights they bark. They are dogs. Barking is part of what they do.

A poacher is a hunter by definition. I understand the important distinction, but we should acknowledge that this isn’t a one or the other. A poacher is a person who hunts or catches game or fish illegally. All poachers are hunters, but not all hunters are poachers.

Sound's like lazy cops. They could probably solve it by knocking on their door and telling them it's a violation
