“It breaks the two party system” says voters in a state that elects more odd party candidates than any other and has elected an Independent socialist to national office for 30 years. Sounds like the current system works just fine here.

Unfortunately, Vermont’s animal cruelty laws are pretty weak. Same with any kind of enforcement of noise ordinances. Calling the cops will probably result in them telling you to call animal control. As a former Orleans resident (lived there over a decade)…my best advice is to move somewhere else.

Im so tired right now I read your comment as “I also keep wine on the counter…. use it in our coffee…”. I was thinking to myself “hmm… I wonder what wine they are using to pair with their coffee?”

I need to get off reddit and get some sleep. 😴

opened in the fridge 100%. Maple syrup is perishable and will grow mold under certain conditions. Plus added ick is if you have ANY insects, especially ants, you will find a lil crunch in your syrup if it is even slightly open (which with those fliptops can easily happen after about halfway through a bottle when it has crystallized on the opening a little).

Even easier than ranked choice voting is approval voting, which is what we use in my city in the Midwest (for statewide elections, we’re still stuck with party primaries). But in my city, in the primary, all candidates are listed on the same ballot. You can vote for as many candidates as you like. If you like them all, you can vote for them all. If you like one, vote for one. Or any number of candidates in between. Then the top two candidates face off in the general election. In the first two election cycles since we implemented approval voting, we were able to break the stranglehold old-school Dems have had in the city since 1949. So, now we’ll see what the Progressives can do. (Republicans will never win in this city).

A cool, dark place, with top & neck of bottle utterly clean and re-sealed tight, to dissuade pests. Use it up fairly soon. Storing it in the fridge can cause crystallization, which you don’t want. Crystallized syrup can be rewarmed in its jar in a pan of water. Warm the water (under boiling temp) then turn off & let melt slowly. (Better to use it as a regular thing and get rid of all other sweeteners in the house.)
