Won't be as much bitching as when they ripped up the whole town and installed 2 traffic lights. I worked retail in town when that was happening and the amount of people bitching about a fucking traffic light was astounding. The same people will complain about gubmint spending on "unnecessary things" while they get into their Ford F350 they use to get back and forth from their house on Union Street to Hannaford's.

No. I'm saying the problem of soaring food prices and underpaid workers in the food industry isn't specific to Vermont pizza joints. I'm also saying, therefore, your point that we can either can have overpriced food or underpaid workers - whether in reference to pizza joints in Vermont or anywhere else - is a shitty one that obfuscates the real problem with the economy.

Some of this could tie into the issue that I have to write about constantly for an HVAC company down south. January 1st, the government upgraded to SEER2 ratings, so some older heat pumps and central and mini-split systems are no longer in compliance.

It's making HVAC technicians down there struggle to find parts that meet the new SEER2 ratings, and if they had any remaining stock that isn't in compliance with the new ratings, they can't install anything legally. I don't know how this plays out up here, but I know my client has been heavily focused on pointing out that it's going to be trickier to get some parts for older equipment.

That Rutland to WRJ line would be one of the biggest developments for the state and (likely) would be a massive boon to both those cities and surrounding areas. That would be one of the few rail lines bridging either sides of the Hudson based lines (and their respective giant communities on either side of the river.)

Otherwise you have to pick your train line down in the city because they diverge from there with only bus service connecting across the Hudson. That tiny piece of track would effectively create a loop with NYC, open E<>W train travel mid way through the state + give the ability to go further into New England or Canada

I'd be ok diverting some of that Fed grant money that Burlington sops up to the Rutland area.

It's probably too late for this year, but I highly recommend going into a co-op/group for heating oil and propane for the next heating season. I've been doing this for years and lock in in the early summer and then do monthly payments with the propane company.

We reached a point years ago where we were being charged $5.50 a gallon all because we were told our home didn't use enough propane (about 300 gallons a year usage) to justify a lower rate. We were penalized for having a pretty tight home in terms of insulation and having a pellet stove for the very cold weather.

I saw a post about Hilltop Energy and signed up. This year, we're at $2.92 a gallon. It looks like Keith still has oil plans (if you're in an area that's covered) still if you go with open/adjustable rate. Right now the rate is $4.09 a gallon for heating oil.
