I hear so many people talk about the lack of sun... all you have to do is work with the Sun to meet your demand needs. Do laundry when it's sunny, etc.
Or oversize your array to get up to where you need. Frustrates me when people act like cloudy = no power.

Oh no I triggered you. My bad.
Did you bother to read the CA laws in the link? CA knife laws are not bad at all. This is silly. Sorry the angry man on tv made you angry.

My wife and I got married and had our reception here https://millstonehill.com/ and It. Was. Awesome. Insane views, gorgeous setting, spacious and accommodating. Our family all stayed inside while all our friends tented throughout the property, which is large. Didn't break the bank and everyone had a ball.

That is an idea I have toyed with from the beginning of planning. I'll reach out to them. Thank you!

How about this? Both NY and CA suck. That’s not an excuse for also sucking.

That was the first place I tried and they denied us hard! We even asked if we could just use the wrap-around porch for the ceremony, and they said absolutely not. I was super bummed. I think its kind of crappy on their part because it would be a nice donation to the museum and not much of a bother to just have chairs set on the porch for an hour. We even asked if we could use the side deck and if guests could be in the grass area but the answer was still no.
So if you have an "In" or a potential way around this please let me know! :)
The State said we could use the capitol grounds but not the building, potential rain could put a literal damper on that idea.

I wouldn't worry too much - I think the people saying it'll die and you can't get parts are the outliers. I've got one in my house going on year 4 with zero issues beyond a loose nut that was making noise. it'll make heat without issue Friday night when it's crazy cold.
I used to be in commercial HVAC and oversaw installation of literally thousands of heat pump systems in VT. we serviced thousands more and maybe had a dozen lemons. that's a pretty good ratio. parts availability since 2020 has been problematic, but that's across the board from cars to refrigerators. it's getting better. overall, heat pumps are pretty reliable if you take care of them.

Three tomatoes trattoria in Lebanon NH might be a great spot. Really nice park across the street to stretch your legs in the town square.

Yeah not sure on the downvotes.
Passivehaus is massively expensive in our climate and has minimal benefit over net zero.
In climates where they don’t get the negative temps passivehaus becomes much more economical.

I’d say at this point full passivehaus isnt worthwhile in our climate. Net zero is and draws a ton of inspiration form passivehaus. To get to true passivehaus you’ll spend exponentially more for minimal gain.
We’re in the process of building two now. If you have questions fire away.

Rent at ski and snowboard express in Richmond then head to Cochran’s.
A lesson is worthwhile. Sling well and teaching someone to ski are completely different skills!

Reply to comment by builtforcameron in My proposal for near-future inter-town/city passenger rail expansions in Vermont! (MAP) by DrToadley
It's a slow process because the state gov and Amtrak don't want one there as it would potentially slow down service. If we had a dedicated light rail system, it would be less of an issue, I think. The political will is definitely there in town (though there'd certainly be the gripers you mention--there always are).

Reply to comment by KITTYONFYRE in Debating ranked-choice voting in Vermont by orange_wires
I appreciate the lesson in quoting on Reddit, thank you.
I think your extrapolating a bit to make your point (and I do think it’s a fair point), If we held runoffs by holding them again and again until we got to 50%, but that’s not actually how it’s done. There are only ever two rounds, the election and then a runoff between the top two candidates. I’ll try again to articulate my point better, but it maybe we just disagree.
Let’s pretend we’ve got Sanders, Warren, Gabbard, Clinton, Biden. I really don’t want to vote for Sanders because he’s my neighbor and I don’t like him, and Clinton and Biden are old and outdated. So I rank Gabbard and Warren, both of whom get knocked out. If we have IRV I’m done, my vote “effectively” has been negated, my vote doesn’t get redistributed as others have that ranked everyone, even those candidates they don’t even know or don’t like.
In a traditional runoff maybe Sanders and Biden are the top two vote getters. I can see clearly the race and although I think Biden’s old and his time has gone by, I dislike sanders because he blows his grass all over my driveway and complains about my pickup. I’ve got the opportunity to vote “against” him. I think that’s a crappy way to vote, but realistically it happens all time. But the point is I have a choice to vote again or not. With IRV I have no choice. I HAVE to rank everyone, even the people I don’t like or I risk having my vote not count because there’s no way to know what the future matchups may turn out to be. I think clarity and choice are two critical aspects to voting and IRV does NOT make the runoff clear at all and I my only Choice is to vote for candidates that May it may not be running. I realize that a small and nuanced point, or maybe I still haven’t made it well.
This also encourages people to vote for candidates they don’t know, again because people are essentially forced to rank everyone. Not something I personally want to encourage.
And again, outside of a token amount of money saved I don’t see a benefit or reason to change the current system that is straightforward and simple. And there’s still the educational challenges that exist. If there’s no real meaningful benefit, what’s the point?
All that said, I really do appreciate this dialogue regardless of the difference of opinions. Thank you for a respectful conversation on the topic. Cheers.

Not sure why you're getting downvoted as this is absolutely true. Altho future costs of utilities does weigh heavily on the ROI.
Have a wall of south facing windows that will cook you out if the sun is shining, but then again November thru January aren't very sunny.

In my experience, the envi wall heater from e-heat work pretty well and aren't that expensive to run. They are fairly expensive to buy though.

There are blade limits in some parts of everywhere. CA actually has much more lax knife regulations than many states, like our neighbor NY. I know the angry man on TV told you CA is the boogie man but this is silly.

You are literally arguing from nationalism and your inability to see that is distressing. Nobody should value the President over any other individual, they are literally of equal importance.
You’re beliefs are archaic.
