Also nothing changing is the status quo in VT. FFS we still depend on people wanting to look at cows wandering around a field as our main source of revenue. The legislatures favorite past time is kicking the can? We use a funding mechanism for education that was devised in the early 1800’s. Hunters still wear red and black plaid wool clothes… Not changing shit IS Vermont.

Has our society collapsed? Do people not trust the election system? Do we have widespread fraud? Is anyone confused on how to vote?

I mean I guess to determine if it has worked depends on your goal. Mine are clear, fair, simple and straightforward elections where people’s vote counts. In that regard it has worked. You may have a different goal that it doesn’t meet 🤷🏼‍♂️ but that’s what I’m basing it off. How does IRV fit better with you expectations of what constitutes success in an election?

Honestly I hate the two party system and I hate the left and right. I believe that there are a lot of reasonable people in this country that can take a reasonable stance on multiple topics, but the two party system is meant to divide us. Like, I want my gay friends to get married, smoke some pot, and then protect their home with AR15’s. And I want everyone to be able to live whatever life they want as long as they aren’t assholes to others and are considerate of others desire to do the same. Freedom and liberty as long as it doesn’t encroach on others freedom and liberty. Is that too much to ask? Call it whatever political party or stance you want, but that’s me in a nutshell. Fuck Trump, fuck Biden, oh and fuck Bernie too.

While much of what's proposed here is just fantasy and not feasible, you're wrong about the current Amtrak service in Vermont. It's heavily used. In fact, the trains typically sell out on peak travel days. As of right now (Tuesday), the southbound Ethan Allen Express for this Friday is 70% full. With very modest improvements like adding a second daily run to the Ethan Allen and Vermonter lines, ridership would soar because added flexibility in travel times would make rail more practical for day trips and connecting to other long distance lines. Extending the Vermonter to Montreal might double ridership on at least some segments of the line. These upgrades would not cost billions because the lines already exist.

Commuter rail in Vermont isn't likely to work in most of the state, but running Budd RDCs between Montpelier, Barre, BTV, and Essex Jct. would surely attract more than 40 people. Even a Rutland-BTV shuttle to augment the Ethan Allen would be a winner because it would make day trips possible.

I have Fidium in Montpelier for close to a year now. I am happy, we had internet directly after the power was restored after the last big storm. I get alerts periodically that my connection has been lost, mostly at 2-4am. I haven’t asked why yet because I don’t notice it and it isn’t an issue for me. The install from the pole isn’t great, wire just hanging across not supported and the cable wasn’t fastened so it got pinched in my door when it fell.
