A bit of a catch-22- workers needed but no place to live. If you’re in the building trades, you need high wages to compete for housing but that drives rates, making construction of houses more expensive. Rinse and repeat. There are solutions to this but it’s a matter of political priorities.

There's no shortage of barns that have been converted to housing and other uses.

I wonder when all the demand for housing will actually turn into supply of housing? Right now I feel like home builders would make a killing. There’s huge demand for reasonably priced homes and apartments but I don’t see any new houses going up.

thank you, I'm glad to hear that. I volunteer at a place where I encounter some people who might need that.

The problem ultimately is that those with money BENEFIT from housing shortages driving up rent

No, somebody was most certainly NOT killed at a basketball game. Somebody MAY have died elsewhere as a result of the Alburgh basketball game riot, but we don't yet know if there was some cause and effect of those two events.
With that correction out of the way: Violence comes in many forms, and the easiest way to normalize the worst of the violence is to poo-poo the starter violence such as words.

So dry your wood out because of the wind chill temp? Great PSA!

The night sun in Vermont is so bright, I’ve got full visibility for about 200 yards, and extra when against the snow. It’s magical!

Truthfully I have never tried to call because the internet exists and calling would make me interact in real time with another human being. But presumably, yes, you can get through.

Tall combs or rose type? Mine are in their second winter, last year I had the same worries but honestly they were fine. The ones with the tallest combs lost the very tips of the points to frostbite but it didn't seem to bother them near as much as it worried me. Adequate ventilation, block off drafts, add some fresh bedding to their night coop to make sure it's good and dry, they'll take care of the rest. Moisture management is key. .

It's a temperature that we didn't get since 13 years up here in Quebec, we might get -50 celcius with the windchill, I never seen that
Hoping for the best for those working outside

When there’s snow and a full moon I can clearly make out the ground on the mountainside across from my house, easily a mile away. I always look at it and think “gee, if a moose walked across that mountain right now I bet I’d see it”
