Agreed. If you want to save money switch to Visible. I have had Visible for a couple of years and have been paying $30/ month including service for my Apple Watch too. No contract either.

Let me tell them about the Rutland sheriff who called his friend to flatbed my car then drive me to Citizens in Proctor and take my cash limit out or "I'll lose your car for a long time." Why are they even a thing? It's not the 1600s anymore.

You can sell it straight from the farm with the proper regulations, or labeled "for animals" with no regulations - people love it for their dogs and they'll pay big bucks.

Yeah I mean I have coverage, just was saying hey coverage seems to be a little better and faster in that part of the state. Everywhere else Fi is as good or better in our experience.

I live in the NEK and have had Fi for about 3 years. Works great for me.

It won't take as long after the legislature gets done.Silver lining to the price of oil/propane going even further up next year.
We won't talk about the cost of electricity.
Of course you could put in solar for another 20k no problem.

I have Fi, works great and lighting fast in chit county. Works great in central VT where I grew up as well (Randolph area). My GF has VZW and I have consistently better and faster coverage, pretty much anywhere except the NEK.

Cool, you're probably right here :) The first post in this thread just felt kinda FUD-y to me, but seems I was wrong. Thanks for the link, I'll read this in the evening!

$15 per hour is $1.82 below the living wage in VT for a single person. It is $18.46 below the living wage for a single parent with one child. Your employer needs to pay better if they expect to hire someone anytime soon. Here’s the data if you want to share it with them: https://livingwage.mit.edu/states/50

I thought so too, I've seen the video on Reddit from a few years back, but I guess it happened in Texas during their ice storm this year too. I'm taking it with a grain of salt, but everything I'm reading says it does happen when there are rapid drops to extreme cold temps since the freezing point of sap is really low. It looks like it could just result in large cracks in the trees vs like a Michael Bay explosion but it's supposedly sounds like gunshots and the Sioux and Cree have names for it.
I'm theost skeptical of skeptics normally but this one I'm not ruling out.

Can it be done remotely for $100k a year? Are you open to hiring and training retirees? No? Best of luck!

Nationally too, not just here.

We have a way, we just never use it. We can, as a community, decide to March one of these schmucks to the county line and tell them they aren’t welcome back. You’re right in that the community needs the authority here, but we already have it. What we need is community lead oversight and community organizing so we all know when to meet at the sheriff’s office to begin the March to the county line.
Most of these people aren’t even from the communities they work in and claim to protect. As for supporting them, I’ll support them when one of the supposed good ones starts speaking out strongly against the bad ones. If the good apples happily stay in the barrel with the bad ones, they’re spoiled too.
Just look at that POS in Addison county. Every other sherif should have been calling loudly for him to step down. That scumbag was charged with two counts of felony sexual assault, his ex-wife went public saying she experienced the same abuse, and everyone just sat back and said “oh well if he won’t leave on his own guess there’s nothing we can do, awe shucks.” That is insane. Beyond insane. It’s embarrassing and shameful. Every other Vermont cop should be disgusted to be associated with the profession here when that is allowed to happen. What a joke.

Woke up to a 65 degree house, which is the temp I normally keep it at. No frozen pipes or other problems.
I did keep a space heater in the basement, set at 65 (so not constantly on), so I can't say how it would have gone with heat pumps alone. In general, I'm pretty happy with how they performed yesterday. Still waiting on energy usage data.

Pretty bad especially if you do any sort of driving to other areas around the state. I got no service around Essex/Essex Junction in some areas. I switched to Xfinity and it’s been better and the same price if not cheaper since it was 10 per gig I went over on Fi.

def a risk management calculation to be made here. Where I live, the power is super stable - maybe goes out 2-3 times a year for an hour, max. low likelihood of it going out, but whoa man it'd be bad if it did today!

I had fi for a while. I could deal with the limited coverage but the trouble I had was that it would often say I had service when I didn't.

They are all fucking crooks.
Schumlin went with the attitude of, what are a bunch of non citizens going to do when we steal their money.
With that said, visas for cash is a bullshit program anyway.
