I believe pine grosbeak is correct. We had them here too in Central Vermont.

I concur, non-5G phone on T-Mobile and my partner has a non-5G phone on Verizon. Sometimes her phone gets coverage when I don't... but I'm much more likely to have some coverage when we travel around.

Any housing we build would be bought by the people and entities currently buying it: out-of-state gentrifiers, third home-owners, airbnb speculators, and private equity ghouls. It certainly wouldn't be bought by the people I know who are currently getting priced out of their rentals.
Building housing could be a good idea if we guaranteed, or at least incentivized, its use by regular Vermonters who need places to live. We could do that, but our leadership won't. They want poor Vermonters out.

Hailing from Portland, OR, I now call Southern California home for work. I prefer towns that possess an artistic vibe, down to earth, friendly, and progressive outlook. I have had a few friends that lived in Vermont and loved it. I want to check it out in May.

Pine Grosbeak. Top is female or immature male, bottom is adult male.

Bingo, we're getting an irruption of Pine Grosbeaks this year. Not as many as 2 winters ago, but still a treat to see any at all.

IIRC they require folks to have something like $30K/year for HFH to help in addition to the sweat equity. That part is buried in the details though and not part of the PR hype around them. Still not a bad group but you are right, the religious affiliation makes it..well good people doing good deeds for their own reasons ..not just because its the Right thing to do.

Some folks live in denial. Both Springfield and Bennington are racist AF, though Bennington is much worse since it’s pretty much a sundown town. Springfield possibly has the most violent crime in the state and has a large number of active Far Right extremists.

No rent control, surge of airbnbs/short term rentals, corporate ownership of housing stemming from all those stolen PPP loans…

Here I was thinking Vermonters should reach out to Habitat for Humanity.

Reply to I don't think the legislature should be setting the qualifications for Sheriff, that's the job of the voters (and I support elected Sheriffs). We need a way to remove a Sheriff who has shown themselves to the public as unfit for office. That's my opinion. by RamaSchneider
Read responses, and for those who think we need to have specific qualifications for Sheriffs - what would the qualifications be and what is the rationale?
I see absolutely zero need, for instance, for a Sheriff to be a state certified police officer or other law enforcement type - especially when you read the Sheriff's statutory duties. Others probably see that as fundamental to the job of being a Sheriff.
So, what qualifications and why?
