You can get your panties bunched about this place not paying a “living wage” but if every business did that tomorrow, the supply and demand balance would shift, people would have more money, they would spend more, and the owning class would see an opportunity to play invisible hand and raise prices to a new level based on the new demand side imbalance. As soon as that happens the cost rises for everyone, and those at the “livable wage” drop below the threshold.

NEK recovery center in St J. has meetings. I’ve heard there’s a good one in Burke somewhere. But just go to a few and find a couple you like. Let people know you’re new to it and they’re usually very welcoming.

I woke up at 5am yesterday to a loud bang, it sounded like someone dropping a huge book on the floor or something. I thought it might be a burst pipe but I checked everywhere and nothing was amiss. There’s a big spruce tree out front so maybe that was it.
