You said "you absolutely can walk into the state and get housed that day." That is completely untrue. You didn't say "you could be eligible for housing on your first day in VT," which may be true. You just said some untrue shit and now you're claiming you never said it.

The answer is that a good portion of our country still supports the ideals of the confederacy. Like there is a good number of people who I'm sure if you were like "we should have slaves again" would be like finally!! It's gross. We have military bases named after confederate generals, I mean imagine if they had "Goering Air Force Base" in Germany, it's fuckin wild.

Thrilling discourse. One of those highly cerebral righties

I grew up here though, and I also have a daughter that is currently playing bball for her school in this state. I know for a fact they are using those slurs with a whole lot of hate behind it. They learned it from their parents who were doing it when I was playing as a kid.
Please do not give these people more credit than they deserve. I’m sure I don’t have to tell you how racist a place Vermont is. We get away with a better reputation than we deserve simply because there is such an extreme lack of diversity here.

Printers? Librarian here to say that fair use is only up to 20% of a book and cannot include core elements of the text. Your president is advocating copyright infringement. Would also point out that libraries are part of accreditation. That being said, a digital library is still a library, but good luck telling that to NECHE!

I'm in pretty strong support the first amendment, but I've never understood why blatant treason is tolerated specifically in the north, but all over America. You're free to express yourself, but you are not free to express a symbol of ideologies that tore this nation apart, whose motto is: The south will rise again.
Bruh... how much more clear can you get?

There may not be a room available for you but you could be eligible on your first day in Vermont. My source is DCFS publicly available rules

Yer just dead fucking wrong about that. You absolutely *cannot* walk into this state and get housed that day. I don't know why you're saying this shit - what's your source?
Necessary_Cat_4801 t1_j7s1nmm wrote
Nothing about this is true. We have had an unhoused person freeze to death in Vermont in many many years. People can come to Vermont and be eligible for housing that day. That is a fact whether or not you choose to believe it. I'm not sure you understand what a durational residency requirement is but we do not have them.

Chittenden county, I personally know of 7 cases right now - and I don't know many people.

No, I’m not missing the point at all. I know how the system works. I’m telling you that there is a waiting list long enough that when new people come to the state without housing already set up, it takes weeks or months, plural, to find placement for them, and that’s if they don’t die to the elements or something else first. I do this for a living every day. I see it every day. You’re talking about a theoretical that has absolutely no application whatsoever to the reality of the situation. You quite simply just do not know what you’re talking about, at all.
EDIT: If you work with the homeless population, I feel even more sorry for them than I did before.

Thank you very much! There is nothing good that can come out of getting rid of the actual books. This was a decision that was made completely without the input of students OR faculty/staff.

You're missing the point. There is no rule that bars people new to the state from housing. Whether or not there is availability is totally different.
I also work with the homeless population

Absolutely false. I work with the homeless population and it takes days to weeks to even find an opening, especially in the winter

Signed. We are not in a place in our society where physical books can or should be eliminated, especially in higher education. The mere suggestion is reckless and irresponsible. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Had Covid back in October and it was not fun. I've been masking up since and recently got a second booster and flu shot at same time. Not taking any more chances.

The comment above was about whether or not people come to the state and can be housed right away. They can, if there is space. I would imagine in the summer a room is available right away. In the winter, it's not. I promise you i know more about this program than you do.
