seems like this dude was looking to pick a fight with his local government, give himself a profile in the rightwing circles that his customers come from and make some money that way but he just doesn't seem to have the charisma to pull it off. Now the story is basically "guy with lots of guns builds stuff without permits, judge tells him to take down the unpermitted buildings". It's just kind of funny that instead of filing a couple of pieces of paperwork and paying the town a couple hundred bucks he's throwing away tens of thousands in construction and legal fees.

I think it’s a bit of a skewed statistic to say that your 12 friends who have only been in school during the height of Covid lockdowns and remote learning have never used a physical library and then project that to the whole student body and say that that is normal. While I personally did not use the physical library much at Castleton, many (more than 12…) of my classmates did on a regular basis.

I cannot thank you and every other Librarian in this thread for giving this information. I am writing a paper about how awful of a decision this is and how incredibly important Libraries are for everyone, and this is so incredibly important. For the google form petition that I created, I plan on attaching every comment written out by people to the end of the paper.

Greetings from VT. I love Tucson...spent a week there last April and had a blast. It depends on how much moisture is in the snow. Light, fluffy snow is no problem, but when the snow is heavier (i.e. wetter), it's a good idea to get the snow off the roof. Especially if you live in an old house. Our building stock here is OLD.

It kind of depends on the age of your roof, the roof materials and the pitch. So i live in an old farmhouse with a 1.5 story setup, back when we had a shingled roof, snow wouldn't shed off of it, then if there was a fair amount of snow 2-3 feet it would pile up on the roof. Then ice starts to form underneath the snow from the heat of the house. Plus then sometimes (like as I'm typing) it rains, all that snow and ice on the roof soaking up water can get heavy enough to make an older roof sag especially on outbuildings. Also with the freeze thaw on a shingle roof it shortens the life of the shingles. Now we have a standing seam metal roof, the snow sheds right off and I never think about shoveling my roof again.

So I only bring up the libraries here, but the news we received also highly impacted our sports teams as well. I don't really mention it just because I don't understand it further than it absolutely screws them over. This link is to the post that was made further explaining the decisions. That is a really good point you made. I don't have any idea of what Grewal did before he became VSU's president

Ask them for ROI on the investment. There is none. All this is - is a feel good decision. However, I do not understand the difference environmentally if we are buying hydro power (which is constant) to sun power that requires you to have a battery bank (and that may not be sufficient for prolonged sunless days). The annual increase in the contract exceeds the historical rate increases. I did this on almost a 100% sun capture and based on the limited carry forward of the credits, I calculated a net loss over time on the investment.

We have so many books in our library on the Johnson Campus that are pieces of history. Countless texts that 100% would NOT be available in a digital medium. They say they will "donate" the books, but no matter what happens to the books themselves, that is still so much information that is being taken away from students. It breaks my heart that this is even being considered.

Before you decide on company I would suggest doing research on whether you want to buy panels or lease. Typically with someone like SunCommon you buy your panels but with SunRun you lease. Once you determine that I would suggest then deciding on a company.

I used SunCommon and bought my panels and very happy with the decision all around.

Gosh, I can imagine! It's like, how are they planning on getting those E-Books? Will they create an entirely new platform, or are they planning on outsourcing and using a company? In which case, that brings an uncomfortable amount of control over which books we are able to access.

The entire plan is way more costly than how they are currently run, and all in a flawed notion of "progress."

One important thing to point out is that heat pumps can operate well enough in the -10 range but not all can. You’re going to pay a significant premium for pumps that can do that. People don’t seem to understand that not all heat pumps are created equal
