Another excellent point. Every time I drive by a home with Trump decor™, I am reminded that members of my community (still!) support installing a serial sexual assaulter as a dictator.

And every time I see anti-choice propaganda on someone’s car or in their yard, I am reminded that members of my community do not see me or my daughter as equal, valuable, and autonomous human beings.

Yes, hard to come back from that.

[eta: sorry for the quintuple post, not sure if it’s Reddit or my signal giving me fits this morning]

That isn't defensive driving, though. Defensive driving is staying alert, anticipating others actions, and not taking risks. I'd argue "going with the flow" is a part of this. Going excessively slow for the conditions can be just as risky as going excessively fast.

Riding motorcycles has taught me more about defensive driving than I've ever learned driving a car. Ride as if nobody can see you, anticipate other drivers actions. That sort of thing.

Yep, I work in mental health. It’s worse now than before the pandemic for both adults and pediatrics. The difference is that resources for pediatric mental health have always been more scarce than adults so the increased demand for services combined with the Covid fallout is crushing the system and we are woefully unprepared to handle the problem. We don’t know how to fix it or help these kids with the current mental health funding. It’s disheartening and disconcerting and every one I know who is also working in the system feels the impact of it and is scared for what happens when it gets worse. Because it will get worse.

I mean, have you seen the posts of people looking to move to Vermont who are consulting Reddit? And I would bet that 99% of the people who can afford to cash offer on a home in VT from out of state aren't consulting reddit about where to move their life to and have a vague idea but assume it's like the housing crisis in the rest of the country and not nearly as bad as it is.

I'm assuming that's sarcasm, but just in case.

It's the allegations that the series is referencing Jewish people are goblins, not that the goblins are Jewish. It's making the insult about noses and that they are greedy. Going back to old caricatures that Jewish people are goblins and bad.

I don't think that was the original intent and goblins were picked because it's a fantasy world, but I could be wrong. If that was the intent, it's fucked up, but don't think that's the case.
