Hopefully open carry of semi-automatic weapons is enforced against police as well. I hate seeing police open carry their semi-automatic pistols

Kind of, and no.

There was a guy in Pawlet not following town rules, threatening neighbors, and doing a shooting program. It's an ongoing struggle that has worried police/neighbors/town officials with how he is not following rules. We will see what he does now that the court has issued major fines and ordered him to demolish buildings.

As for open carry, absolutley not a problem, just another case of "seeing something else where and deciding its an issue needing solving here". It also is a nice bonus if it demonized gun owners and makes firearms "that much scarier/hard to own". I hope the open carry measure is stripped out.

Oh, where did you get your medical degree? The AMA, APA, ACA, ACE, AAP all disagree with you. Blockers and early HRT would have saved me a lot of harm. Your knowledge of trans people comes from watching one Tucker Carlson segment. Those kids and the doctors live it everyday. You know nothing and your ignorance shows

so will the current renewable energy goals be amended, because they are all written using the assumption that hydro power is renewable (hydro power is not depleted when used, which is the definition of renewable)?

I see where this is coming from, but find other ways to incentivize wind/solar/geo/etc than de-incentivizing hydro.

Curious what GMP has to say about this impacting rates if they are required to keep their energy mix at the same renewable mix. They're already at $0.19/kwh for most customers. While that's not that high, it certainly isn't cheap either.

We need MORE baseline power generation to support a future with EVs and heat pumps. Solar and wind are great, but they aren't baseline power (at least not until we figure out utility scale power storage - at least 10 years out). We should be incentivizing the crap out of anything that generates power that doesn't burn fossil fuels, not trying to change the definition of renewable.

From the article:

> bills recently introduced into the House include:

> H395 (Masland, D-Thetford) increase instate energy sources. Decrease Hydroelectric from Canada.

> H457 (O-Brien, D-Tunbridge), imposes taxes on food depending on how far food travels from place of origin.

> H450 (Howard, D-Rutland), gives supplemental income, health insurance, retirement benefits to legislators.

> H447 (Mrowicki, D-Putney), bans paramilitary group training and open-carry of semi-automatic weapons (with exceptions for police, etc.).

> H445 (Cina, P-Burlington), places a moratorium on developing a new correctional facility.

> H444 (Noyes, D-Wolcott), establishes a trust fund to pay for long-term care.

> H440 (Burditt, R-Rutland Town), requires safety belts on new schoolbuses.

> H435 (Cina & Sheldon, D-Middlebury) overhauls Vermont’s economy to be ecologically friendly.

Details in article.

I mean I get the reason and I like the intent and the effort. Jim Masland (D-Thetford) has his heart in the right place, but needs to google “embedded carbon” because then he’d understand that It’s fucking stupid to turn our backs on already developed and accessible carbon free low cost power.

It’s going to be a rough drive tomorrow morning to Killington at any approach without 4wd. You are going over/through some big passes no matter what to get to Rutland. Please consider waiting till later in the day to leave and be safe. Lots of us have to drive these roads for work:/

Speaking of that 3-4 hour install, I had a local contractor quote me 10,000 to install two, in addition to the equipment costs. Even if three people put in an 8 hour day doing two units, by my math that's $416/hour for the install. And the electric work to run the 220 line wasn't included in that number. No thanks.
