The fish ladder is only open to the public in June and September, mainly on weekends. Those are migration periods for shad, lamprey eels and salmon. Other times there is nothing to see on the ladder, or so I'm told.

Our prison population is indeed too damn high and I would like to see it reduced. One imagines that there are few women in prison who urgently need to be there

Then enlighten me how this is like the pipeline. Because as someone who protested against both of and joined the BLM movement during the pandemic, this has a very different vibe with different context

This might be a useful resource as you look into options. Good luck, and be safe!

Edit: I also just came across this article. It's Burlington specific but points out both the problems we have going on and some things people are doing to work against them: https://www.wcax.com/2023/03/12/burlington-city-council-consider-resolution-condemning-transphobia/

You mistake me if you think I am a "sympathizer" of DAPL or this so-called "Cop City." But I don't have any respect for the wild-eyed hyperbole of people like you either. Come up with some real solutions and then you can graduate from sitting at the kids' table.

The cops in the US follow fascist tendencies. So do oil companies (and most large companies causing harm). It’s well documented. Idk what dialogue you’re getting at, or really what your point is with it being like DXL, which was exploitation of locals (with DXL indigenous people) for something that is incredibly unpopular and detrimental. Sympathizers for the DXL and Cop City need to take an inward look. Especially with how politics will be shaped due to climate change.

I knew a guy locally that won the Megabucks twice. This was back in the 90s though.
I grew up watching my parents waste so much money on scratch tickets, lottery tickets and casino visits. They should have saved for college instead.

When in doubt, just call your interlocutor a fascist. Works every time, or at least that's what people like you think

You’re like incredibly out of touch on both the DXL and Cop City. The pipeline has already spilled and is fueling climate change, and cop city is in part a reaction to 2020 US protests against the lack of culpability cops have in the US. Maybe be less of a fascist?

It would make sense if VT had major sports teams, which we don't. However, we're close enough to Boston?

It's an awesome book. Reading it to my kids right now, but the way it's written is like a storybook, which makes it really fun to read. It has a great depiction of the Green Mountain Boys, too.

I dated someone from Fellows Balls and we drove around town one night and it was just people loitering in parking lots all night. That and Jim's Arcade, which I wonder if it is still there or not?

It’s terrible they start it out small then it becomes this all encompassing thing with ads everywhere , online play , in every store and then kiosks for it.
They also tune it to be addicting and research how to get you to pay more .
It’s so alluring to think you could solve all your problems by hitting a million or more but the odds are so bad it’s unlikely even if you played everyday you would ever win anything g like that .
The human brain has trouble understanding the kind of numbers in those odds and how bad it really is.

I wish people understood whare they were protesting. This was a proposal by a black city council woman to create a training center and improve the quality of Atlanta policing. Strange optics to have a bunch of white people from outside the community tell black people of Atlanta what they should be doing
