I don’t believe I ever said, establish civilized norms with science based public policy. I said mandate another citizens way of life just because you don’t agree with it. But that’s very lofty of you.

Honestly, I left Vermont because there is no decent work to be done aside from restaurants and grocery stores, and I couldn't find any housing, but I couldn't afford it if I did. A big fuck you to Hannafords for the 12.15 an hour and 24 hours a week. Now I live in AZ and work from home selling insurance, making about 26$ an hour. My other gripe is there's not a lot to do. Being from Rutland and losing our movie theater, it just feels like there's no youth culture aside from hiking. If I was lucky, I could go to Burlington, but shits expensive there.

If by dictate you mean establish civilized norms with science based public policy then sure.

Our constitution(s) empower our government to do certain things for us.

If you want to go back to the 1700s, please turn off your internet, electricity, use only muzzleloaders, eschew all antibiotics and move somewhere where your actions don’t impact anyone else’s.

Then sure do whatever you want.

We need a little less freedom and a little more liberty

You're lucky to be reading about this at all. If you actually read the article, you'll see that this story only came to light after a great deal of digging and a refusal to accept the police department and town's refusal to talk about the officer's departure. This officer's departure was not announced and there were no details given regarding it. What you're reading is an impartial look at the officer's track record, not a resume. There will certainly be more to be reported on this story, but you should be thankful that local journalism still exists in your community.

Unlikely, considering the once-daily-each-direction Vermonter doesn't (outside of major problems)) do overnight6 runs and doesn't have sleeper cars in the consist. The closest it gets to Okemo is Bellows Falls and the best anyone could hope for would be a shuttle bus making the trip up and down 103 to connect to the Amtrak route. Even Killington doesn't justify more than a shuttle from Rutland when the Ethan Allen goes through. I don't think anyone sees enough potential return on investment from building a Jackson Gore station, upgrading the infrastructure, and conning anyone into running scheduled passenger service.

I have some great retirement advice for anyone interested.

Don't listen to a random redditor's anecdotal advice he inferred from a sample size of 2 people he barely knows who may have mentioned something offhand and were likely just venting.

i mean, I see how they’re related. However, I’m really just asking because the article is pretty clear that they’re not using taxes or social programs as any of the metrics, making that other guys entire point moot.

Like an article showing taxes across states would be interesting, but those weren’t the metrics in the article so IDK why that guy is bringing up social programs. Unless i’m mistaken about something?
