Yeah it’s insanity.
I’ve actually never used one at all, I like the certainty and flexibility of a hotel. You stay at a reputable chain and expect a certain standard of cleanliness, if the room sucks they can move you, you have recourse with management if there’s a problem, etc.

Im gonna buy up all the property around your lot and create an open pit talc mine that operates 24/7. We should be able to do whatever we want with our property. Why is it a problem

A beautiful museum (and better appealing area of Brattleboro) would attract VT and out of state patrons to local businesses. People would likely eat lunch or dinner, craft beers, stop at mocha joes, Sam’s, etc.
I’d also think that it could motivate local businesses or developers to invest in Brattleboro.
I’d think a museum would also support the local culture… schools, people who are interested in the space. This is an area where where local government invests. Private companies don’t create museums.

In a state like vermont with absolutely bloated property taxes, homeowners should be able to do whatever they wish with their properties…local governments should create more affordable housing..

100% agree. Half the homes in my neighborhood are AirBNBs. It’s nice to have neighbors and lonely when the empty houses outweigh the permanent residents.

“Blocks of hotels masquerading as single family homes” is a beautiful way to describe neighborhoods transforming into AirBNBs

Sadly. In places like vt that are tourist heavy its not a bust.
Legislation is our best move out of it

Stick it to em. Just saw a fresh on in Winooski for $450/night and it's booked out. Fuck that person.

I hate to wish a financial headache upon on anyone, in this case AirBnB owners, but I think this is great news. If true, this could help to ease some of the housing crunch that we are seeing across the state.

Bill Stenger can kiss the darkest, most foul part of my ass. He should be in jail for the rest of his life, and should have to forfeit all his own wealth and property as reparations for the crimes he and Quiros both committed.

Curious what you mean by ‘truly affordable’? Everything WWHT rents out is capital-A Affordable. Are you talking same price point, just not by WWH?

Good to know if your rich and white, you can pay to not have actual life changing consequences for breaking the law and causing harm to others.
I bet he’ll sleep well tonight with a fat bank account in one of his mansions. No food stamps for him. No struggle to find a new job to put food on the table. No worrying about how he is going to get his life together again. Must be nice

I got a drivers license in 15 min at the dmv, drove to a gun store and told them which gun I wanted. I did the background check and by the time I walked to the other side of the store to get two ammo boxes I had passed. whole thing took about hour and a half and most of that was driving and choosing which I want.

Comparing a toxic mine with short term rentals is laughable especially in a state so dependent on tourism..
