It only helps if you work for the state or the reason you can’t attend is school related. For the other large percent of people, taking a random Tuesday off work is not an option. Town meeting under represents economically disadvantaged populations and only allows you a voice if you are privileged enough to miss a day of work.

I have always taught on town meeting day. The large district I work for does not extend the winter break to include it.

No. I teach in VT. My (large) district has school in session in town meeting day. Not all teachers have it off.

Pretty much all the corruption in the state is at the town level.

It’s like the public meetings from Parks and Recreation, but pettier.

Generally speaking the New Yorkers moving to Bratt are fueling the greed of unscrupulous landlords booting their tenants so that they can turn around and charge clueless transplants three times as much. We need to make sure that current residents are getting first pick for all apartments and we DESPERATELY need rent control. Those clueless New Yorkers will just have to look elsewhere.

I’m just stating what things are actually worth based on the income available to most people in Windham County. Also Landlords are charging about twice as much as what the state would indicate as affordable. A three bedroom apartment in Brattleboro usually goes for over $3000 a month.

Lots of people still work on recognized holidays. The only way to ensure equal access to voting is to do everything by Australian ballot with polls open for twelve hours, just like election day. I understand the appeal of town meeting but personally would be thrilled to see the end of voting from the floor.

Public employees see it as Super Bowl, 6-12 months of work and you get that one chance to present the issue and the solution. This is unlike a city council who might meet twice weekeny. I

Then you're not a teacher in Vermont. School is not in session on town meeting day.
Are you thinking of November elections?

It's pretty bad and I just don't get it.
I agree with 'why wait?' I take my young nieces and nephews out quite often and we always start with a sweep of the parking area or fishing spot. They are proud to make it look better for the next visitors.
If there are cans, I redeem them and use the money to buy beer for them. Hopefully they'll see the reward and continue doing this when they get to high school.

Yes, whitetail deer based on the white hair.
It's a piece of hide that includes part of the underside, which is white.

We spare no expense insuring that every dog is licensed in town because the Town Clerk gets a cut of the licensing fees.

Burlington shows it this year as a Professional Development day so it looks like teachers are expected to attend. That seems like a problem for the district.
