No housing, low wages, young graduates leaving the state, lack of skilled trades, and yet anytime someone even mentions new development or flatlanders moving to the state, the crusty old Vermonters start crowing about “go back to where you came from”. We can’t have any change because it’s not the Vermont way. Lot of people just like to hear themselves complain.

you're having a hard time rationalizing that not all conservatives are ass holes / unintelligent.

Hell I am willing to go on the record and have a discussion with you.

Vt as an entire state cannot operate without federal funding. Every public service grant is being gutted and the ones that still exist even as a non-profit now has management that’s getting salaries significantly higher than years past but without an increase in funding. Look at mental health/addiction at Bratt. All but gone. Not enough money to maintain the facilities or pay staff. Word on the street is that they couldn’t get an increase in federal funding but everyone at the top got raises and bonuses for years. Source: program director for veteran PTSD left and went back into food service and bartending for more money.

Many years ago, I was out walking my dog in my town and the animal control officer did stop and ask me if my dog was licensed and then asked me to point out homes in the neighborhood that had dogs. So it can happen, it's not common though.

I went into Price Chopper (or Market 32 maybe) a couple of months ago and realized I had forgotten my wallet in the car. I turned around with my cart to go get it and the cart’s wheels locked at the door! Employee told me that the carts have sensors and that know whether the cart has gone through the check out line.

Medical workers, drivers, educators, police, and much more ... all saying the same thing: staffing shortages. We need to be thinking about moving ahead and not protecting everything we had. There has been a massive change in our work force, yet we're acting like it's still 2018 in the work place.

What are the possibilities we can explore that will require fewer, not more, "workers"?

here are some random bits: -invest in snow tires -accept that you have to spend $$ to fly out of the state or drive to Boston and fly out there -get a passport so you can go to Montreal and Quebec City -definitely pay attention to service provider coverage like cell phones and wifi -even if you don't need a pcp or a dentist right away, book your first appointment now as some aren't even taking new patients

Agreed, although its also worth pointing out that if it were on a weekend, then people who work weekends (retail, food service, etc), who also tend to be economically disadvantaged, still wouldn't be able to attend. I worked weekends for many years. My partner currently works evenings in a grocery store and wouldn't be able to go if it were held on Tuesday evening.

Yeah when I moved to Vermont it sounded like town meeting day was cult initiation day. It ended up being a lot more normal and even somewhat enjoyable.

You see people you know, you talk to people, you vote on things, you can see the other people who are voting.

It's also not very polarizing, unlike my previous place of living, not a single person got up on stage and told anyone they were going to hell for wearing a mask.

Do you have a pedigree available to post here? Do both parents have all clearances (hips, elbows, eyes, heart, dna)?

Meanwhile right here in Vermont we have the local version that tries to make the talkers sound reasonable, cool and collected - as they (yeah - Phil too) try to distract us all from the reality that these local talkers are just trying to distract us from what is happening to our world, nation, state and towns. This is reflected in Phil Scott as Governor as well as media outlets such as WCAX and WDEV.

The fact is that the VTGOP is just biding time until they can force their vile, violent, racist and bigoted, uber authoritarian world view on all us right here in sweet little Vermont.
