When I was making their ads for one of the local newspapers, there were multiple ads every single week for various HC positions, and they always had exhaustive lists of qualification requirements, but never listed salaries. The only places that didn't list salaries/rates (and I'm sure this is still the case) were the companies that weren't competitive.

I was just on a job search between November and February, and I never once even considered applying for jobs that didn't list the salary. It isn't worth the time only to realize that they're offering below market rates.

You need to get out more touch some grass or something. Try taking a trip outside your bubble of preconceived notions of what republicans are or are not especially here in VT.

Head east on RT.2 from ST. J. right into the belly of red county Vermont. When in Concord stop at the Moose Look for lunch see if you can hear any of these vile, violent, racist bigoted authoritarian world views you so decry. Then if you have not been lynched yet by Jim-bob and his cousins from the holler continue on to Lunenburg another Trump 2016 town and stop in to meet the new Selectman who was elected with a huge majority. Maybe ask him if anyone cares that he's gay? Not that it matters but it sure smashes a few stereotypes of the area. Hit the town store while you are at it lots of lively talk in there. Maybe you will find some of this vile crap you speak of but doubtful.

Most of us vile republicans (more like classic liberals these days) are more worried about our jobs, the constant bills the left tries to push down or throats that negatively impact our lives like preventing our kids from using school choice as they have for decades. The forced merger stuff closing our schools the new smart heat bill or whatever that boondoggle is called or the next and the next. Then head up past Guildhall into Granby and say hi to our State Rep. Terry Williams who actually works for us and picks up the phone to hear our concerns. Maybe continue up to Canaan another spot you likely have never been. Oh and how would I love for your car to break down. Within a few min you probably would have more than one of these vile persons pulled over to help you out.

Take that trip Rama and write back about it. Might change your view a bit.

If you didn’t do anything wrong why are you so worried about it? Takes an extra 10 seconds from your day. Move on and be happy. Life’s a gift

LOL Only had to go back one comment.

"The fact is that the VTGOP is just biding time until they can force their vile, violent, racist and bigoted, uber authoritarian world view on all us right here in sweet little Vermont."

I'm guessing the Comfort Inn is the expensive hotel-this is the only place I would recommend...have stayed there many times. The Fairbanks Motor Inn is being used to house the homeless.

If you are not tied to St. J, try the Danville Inn in Danville.

Vt has an older median age compared to most of the nation. the 'older' our state gets, the more social services it will need to care for the elderly population. We need more workers. We need more services. We need to be more humane to caregivers and pay them enough to survive in this state, or we will have a horribly underserved elderly/ sick pop. It's not great as it is, which the pandemic shone a crystal clear light on. So when you are frail and unable to care for yourself, what is the alternative? A robot? You need humans for these roles right now. Nobody wants to do it because it's been horrible for a while, and the wear and tare on your body and mind isn't currently worth it. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._states_and_territories_by_median_age

Town Meeting is great in towns that give it the cultural place of honor it deserves…but it can also be “meh” in towns that treat it like just another thing that has to be done. My town unfortunately feels like the latter, and you can tell that the zeal residents used to have for town meeting (and all that it stands for) is waning…which really worries me. One town over, they begin the meeting with a coffee/tea/pastries social hour and wrap it up with a big potluck. The difference in how excited and invested people are is palpable.

I deeply worry that if Town Meeting (as a concept) isn’t given an injection of pride, energy, and excitement, that we may be in danger of losing a quintessential way of life here in Vermont. The fact that not everyone gets the day off is damn near criminal (it should be enforced in both the public and private sector, IMHO). Towns should make it something that everyone - especially newbies and young folks - look forward to coming to.

If a tradition isn’t celebrated & upheld as something essential and something to look forward to, it eventually starts to feel like it’s just peer pressure from dead people. If that happens to Town Meeting in Vermont, our state is in danger of becoming like every other place where folks choose passive convenience over critical thinking and community care.
