I mean, that's true, but now we're at several layers more than "pay your fucking workers" which kind of implies corporate greed.

It's definitely not worth it here if you can get out. Let VT turn into Long Island.

Are you working locally? If not, the moneyed work from home class is not going to be popular in that part of the state...

We do. The people calling the shots in the state do too. They just don't care.

> staffing shortages.
Staffing shortages at the wages offered is how everyone should mentally translate that phrase every time you see it. Everything makes tons more sense that way.

It's more extensive than that. Replace capitalism with socialism.
Different wages would still exist for different jobs, and those wages are determined democratically by the workers. Wage inequality would still be present to some degree but the perverse and gross inequality we have today would no longer be present. Billionaires and most likely millionaires would not exist. CEO equivalents and senior leaders would still probably earn more than lower levels, but not at the obscene levels today. Jobs that require high levels of expertise, stress, or hard labor would probably be paid more. Workers come and go as they wish. Work is also not tied to healthcare/health insurance as insurance no longer exists. People would be much freer to change jobs as they see fit without insurance/benefits hanging over their heads. In an ironic twist, job migrations would probably be easier and more readily available than under capitalism.

Oh without a doubt, my wife and I love making chicken meatballs. Usually we’ll kill a whole bird for thanksgiving when family comes, but free range backyard birds are tough and gamey! Probably should have told OP haha

An old edition of The Joy of Cooking tought us everything we needed to know about processing (much like the instructions above), but with illustrations. They're tough enough that we find grinding the meat up for sausage patties or meatballs is their yummiest use.

Reply to Hi everyone, my wife and I would like to spend a few days in Vermont this summer. We have a baby and a dog. A friend has told us that Woodstock would be a great place to spend a few days. Thoughts or other suggestions? TIA! by whey_dhey1026
Woodstock isn't really "Vermont". It's "Vermont" in the sense that a resort in Cancun is "Mexico." Same with Stowe, Manchester, etc.

Reply to Former governor Jim Douglas sues Middlebury College over chapel name removal by flounder19
would be nice to see what Mead actually did & said. information is slim in this article, Middlebury College's article, and the wikipedia page for him. is this actually a nuanced subject, or is this "old man yells at clouds"? Likely the former, but it'd be nice to read more.
> The basis for the name removal was Gov. Mead’s support, in his farewell address of 1912, “for proposals to restrict the issuance of marriage licenses and to appoint a commission to study the use of a new operation called a vasectomy, which was a safer and more humane process of sterilization,” the lawsuit states. But claims that his comments caused sterilizations to happen 20 or 30 years later “is factually baseless and legally unjust,” Douglas wrote.
considering the republican and democratic parties swapped platforms somewhere around that time I don't think this is just blatant "im a republican and republicans good" move, but it could be. studying vasectomies is fine, the dude WAS literally a doctor so that makes sense. Restricting the issuance of marriage licenses is sus but I don't know what those licenses are, how they're given out, etc etc.
Any historians here to educate? I'd love to learn more.
edit: it’s not looking good for mr mead imo
