If a google of "mead eugenics involvement" immediately pulls up this asshat's outspoken question of "Segregation or Sterilization" in 1912 - I implore you to stop fooling yourself into thinking you are trying. With all that, I warn you that the devil's advocate act makes you look like a walking cock-sock. Be better, fucking christ.

I'm in Danville and I've got an RV that sleeps two and a tent that sleeps one if you're really looking for something cheap. It's 13 miles uphill from St. J though, and at the moment there's two feet of snow on the ground.

I read the article. My comments are a mix between what is in the article and the comment.

If you have different information, it should be included in your comment. To have information and not include it in your comment is not really fair. Others have posted new to me information. I will read that later today.

Mead did far more than merely suggest further study of vasectomies. In reality, he suggested vasectomies as one of a few options (in addition to restrictions on marriage and segregation) to control the growing population of “degenerates” in society.

Jim Douglas might be acting in good faith, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he is correct.

As much as I empathize with everything being said, my experiences staying at AirBonobo/ Vrbo have been >80% small, middle class hosts. A family (multiple siblings in their 60s who lived in adjoining houses) who rented out their deceased parent’s house which shared a backyard with theirs in Utah. A CP railway conductor who used his railroad pay to renovate 3 small properties and maintains them in his time off from work in Minnesota. A semi-retired guy who lives off his rental up the hill from him in Maine. I really think things have gone wrong with the platform since it started (like everything on the internet that’s been around too long). The prices have skyrocketed for what you get. I also grew up in VT and find it hard to imagine ever moving back bc affordability. Other than say essex county, island pond has some affordable houses for sale.

I’ve been the outsider you talk about but was fully informed on issues, served on a committee, went to board meetings, etc and still had a mass of local townies want to yell in my face and intimidate me for having a difference of opinion. Funny you mention looking your neighbor in the eye as one casts a vote… One of the proposals that was voted on was an issue that was never brought to the residents on the roads it impacted the most in the new proposal, yet so many, not unlike your comment cried how they were community minded people yet completely failing to see the irony of their efforts.

We need out of staters to come rent and buy our houses, because we can’t keep our own youth. We need workers, we need more housing, a lot more, far more than is being taken up buy second homeowners and vacation rentals. The vacancy rate in Burlington has been under 3% since before Airbnb was a thing.
