Guy was a stud lol. Most 30 year olds these days couldn’t do that.

While the speed of charging depends greatly on battery size, this is true of all level 1 chargers. Level 1 is something like 5 miles per hour of charging I think, so if you have a high mileage battery you're gonna be there for days (maybe 2-3 days for an average battery size).
If you want your vehicle to charge overnight you NEED to have a level 2 charger. That's like 6 times the speed of level 1.
If you want your vehicle to charge in an hour or two you need level 3 (but that's not something you will be installing in your home)
If you want an electric vehicle and want optimal charge speed you pretty much need to get a 240V AC outlet installed near your car bay. I could see how in the future this will be a common installation in garages of all new homes. We already do that in the dryer/washer rooms, since dryers always require very high voltage too. It's not something outlandish or out of the question to have installed. It costs maybe 2000 bucks to get a 240V line installed in your garage by an electrician. It's something to consider in the cost of gettin an EV. The level 2 chargers are like 300-1000 bucks on top of that.

It's crazy how different the image quality is even though 2001 doesn't seem that long ago. 4:3 analog video of the president. Nowadays it's almost impossible to find that same footage in SD.

Then it must be a good thing that they're being coordinated by the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority. They're civilians with at least basic first aid or sar training.

There's already videos circulating that the whole thing is fake. It's really stupid. Like the footage they use is clearly altered and not at all the average videos of people recording on their phone and such.
Edit: So everyone down voting this believes that the earthquake and destruction are fake? That the volunteers are all actors? Wow. Stupid is as stupid does

In my college Animal Behavior class we talked about some cases, but that was quite a few years ago so I don’t remember details. All I really remember was it had to do with infrasound/ultrasound. I did a quick Google and found an article but don’t have time right now to read the whole thing. Here’s an excerpt though:
“The Boxing Day Tsunami on 26 December 2004 was created by a magnitude 9.0 earthquake, 160 km off the northwest coast of Sumatra, one minute before 0800 local time (00:58:53 UCT). The earthquake resulted in a 15.6 m (50 ft) wave that crashed onto the coast of Sumatra. This wave impacted the shoreline, producing low-frequency sounds at and below 100 Hz with much of the energy residing in infrasonic frequencies between 1 Hz and 10 Hz. These sounds travel in the atmosphere at the speed of sound. At the tropical ocean surface this speed will be about 1260 km/h. The tsunami, in contrast, travels at a speed of 700 km/h. Elephants at locations 1000 km distant from Sumatra (Phuket, Thailand and Yala National Park, Sri Lanka) detected and responded to this sound wave 38.1 min prior to the arrival of the tsunami. No elephant in either location was lost or injured. In contrast, a significant number of people on the beaches of Thailand lost their lives [17].”
Edit: And I do realize this may have had more to do with the tsunami as opposed to the earthquake, but if someone wants to read that article there may be more in there specifically regarding earthquakes.

Oh no doubt about him having some good stories, considering again, he's probably on that list too, just a bit of a far 3rd. I feel like Carter would be fun to talk about the universe and in his late 90s could articulate on existential questions, just someone you can drown a few beers with and come out thinking a bit differently about life. Bush is the opposite, drown more than a few beers with and come out exactly the same with some wild stories. Clinton is probably a good middle ground, some beers, some thoughtful discussion, and some wild stories.

Another fun way to look at it: Biden first ran for president 12 years before George W did.

Terrible president, warhawk who should've lost to Gore in Florida (and probably 5 other states), probably the worst since Reagan, but I have to admit he's one of two living presidents I want to grab a beer with, the other being Carter. Nothing really against Obama but he's on much different level of intellect than me that he'd probably think I was a jackass. But Carter and Bush just have that quality where you could sit at the bar and shoot the shit. I agree with very little Bush did in office, but I'd be down to talk 1946-2000 and 2009-2023.
