I went in pretty blind but I had heard excellent things about it. If a true character study isn't your cup of tea, you might not like it. I didn't think it would be able to grip me because it's an adapted play. My god, was it an absolute masterpiece. Everyone rightfully talks up Brendan Fraser's performance but literally everyone in this film is firing on all cylinders. Sadie Sink is fucking amazing.

Queue to Doom Patrol series opening where he bangs his screen wife from behind with bare butt and me desperately trying to find the remote control and telling younglings to close their eyes.

That shuttered my illusions of him as a goofy kids friendly action star. Now I know there I a reason that some series deserve their MA ratings.

Hey, what kind of behavior is this?! Look at the two of you, being all ‘respectful’ and ‘adult’. Cmon! This is Reddit, ffs!

You guys have similar but slightly different opinions on things!! You are supposed to be treating each other with traumatized contempt. Not open mindedness! I haven’t heard ONE comment insulting the others sexual habits.

You can both do better, is all I am saying.

I do find this fascinating....the man was truly ignored for many, many years by the decision makers in that industry. Seems a fine actor (was gonna watch The Whale a couple of days ago.....they wanted 19.99 to stream it). So now he's a massive money pull. But really what's touching are his feels, which make me want to watch the movie....the premise might make me mildly want to, but that kind of movie for me is really dependent on my mood.....that's a serious subject and I don't always like that kind of film, but he himself compels me to it. I sincerely hope it turns for him. He seems such a very nice person, and all of us can use more nice people in a world of venal assholes

The whole ‘please excuse the video quality’ is just so they can post it first and get internet points. It happens on sports subreddits all the time. Someone will post a shitty quality version of a highlight, or one that ends right before the crowd reaction, so they can be the first to submit it. It’s shitty.

Brendan Fraser's career is the epitome of perseverance, which he so eloquently stated. I don't get excited about celebrity success very often, but as someone who has gone through the wringer of self-doubt myself, I am elated to see his resurgence back to the main stage. A remarkable journey for one of the kindest people in Hollywood.

Good luck at the Oscars, Brendan. Loads and loads of people are rooting for you.
