> Hungary's nationalist Prime Minister Viktor Orban has angered his country's eastern neighbours Romania and Ukraine by wearing a football scarf adorned with a map of an expanded Hungary.

>The image represents Greater Hungary - the old Hungarian imperial territory that existed before Austria-Hungary's defeat in World War One.

>Romania voiced "firm disapproval" of Mr Orban's gesture, in a message to the Hungarian ambassador to Bucharest. Ukraine demanded an official apology.

>Ukraine's foreign ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko said Kyiv was summoning Hungary's ambassador "who will be informed of the unacceptability of Viktor Orban's act".

I wonder if at some point NATO could be disbanded and immediately Reformed without these assholes.

How the hell is this country a part of NATO

Because kicking any country out of NATO goes against the spirit of collective defense. Why defend anyone when it's politically inconvenient if you could just kick them out?

Orban is that garbage that you always wanted to clog of the drain but appears to have cemented along the drain.

In 2004, 6 years before before Orban. Orban is the re-elected autocrat who is hellbent on stripping the country of any and all democratic values. (But still have "elections")

Not saying they were peachy before, but then again, who is.

Yeah back then the country wasn't that bad, but again, even his supporters don't agree with him. He is literally a dictator in the sense that he doesn't do what the people want, he doesn't ask, just dors whatever he wants... I hope we can get him up on a lamppost soon

You can’t achieve collective defense if one link is ally with the enemy. Then it is a security issue for the rest of the defensive alliance, and should be removed.

This. His goal is the stay in power no matter what.

He goes from communist rhetoric to race theory in a matter of days, it always depends on who he wants to win over to his side at the time.

He's not at all far right, he's an opportunist who loves power too much and he's willing to drive the country down a cliff to keep it for a while longer.

The "North atlantic alliance" really should not care about Turkey or the locations/sea around it. We don't need it to defend the rest of NATO.

Turkey is there to keep black sea fleet in check. Ukraine almost removed this reason :P (along with Turkey, because their closing the straight prevents reinforcements)

I just checked that Hungary joined NATO in 1999 and EU in 2003. Do you think Russia in 1999 the same as Russia 2014 or even 2008? And do you think that the relationship between Russia and NATO was the same as it is now. Nevertheless, is there any requirement that said "must be Russophobic" (since you use "pro-Russia" I think russophobic is the right word to use here) to join?
