India is already a part of Quad (India, US, Aus, Japan), but the UK is missing from that. India is also running military exercises with some major western countries, but hasn’t signed any mutual defence pact. They won’t join an alliance that requires that anytime soon.

We're about as far as we've been from a two state solution any time in at least the past 50 years.

Bibi accepting extremists into his coalition to avoid corruption charges, Abbas likely dying of old age soon without any successor, and Hamas increasingly having a presence in the West Bank. Good fucking luck, Blinken

Nah, Sweden is essential to have from the Finnish point of view, not just a nice to have. Sweden makes logistics way easier, has a large manpower reserve of fit to serve who could be trained fairly easily in the event of war, is able to manufacture arms and resupply units, has a locally very powerful navy and air force (their army isn't bad either, just lacks a little manpower since they did away with conscription) with capabilities that are quite lacking with their neighbors, etc.

The Finnish and Swedish defense/armed forces have a very good working relationship. Perhaps Sweden isn't essential for NATO, but Sweden is essential for Finland regardless of if we are in NATO or not. Finland without Sweden also loses quite a bit of effectiveness and resilience in terms of providing security in the Baltic Sea area and around the Kola Peninsula.

It's not so much "pro US" as "pro geopolitical stability". When nations just start annexing each other willy-nilly it becomes vastly more difficult to have stable world trade. The point is to demonstrate to anyone else with similar ideas (China) that they risk becoming an economic pariah on the world stage.

Currently India is undermining that object lesson and, instead, demonstrating that there will always be some nation willing to trade with the aggressor regardless of how heinous their crimes.

> US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has called for Israel and the Palestinians to take "Urgent steps" to restore calm amid escalating violence.

> Mr Blinken said the US had "An enduring goal of Palestinians and Israelis enjoying equal measures of freedom, security, opportunity, justice and dignity", which he said could best be achieved by "Realising the vision of two states" - an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel.

> "That's why we're urging all sides now to take urgent steps to restore calm, to de-escalate - we want to make sure there's an environment in which we can... at some point create the conditions where we can start to restore a sense of security for Israelis and Palestinians alike."

Ok I assume the poster above was talking about the Boulder supermarket shooting. I think the point was that the media likes to divide the citizenry at the behest of the ruling class and the easiest way is to do so along ethnic lines. The media loves the narrative of racially-motivated conflict, with endless experts brought on to theorize about all that divides us and all our differences. When it turned out the shooter was an immigrant (and most of the victims were white iirc) the media toned down the coverage. It still lingered in the news cycle like usual, but I distinctly remember the constraints news shows had when discussing it. Completely different from the Charleston church shooting, where news stations ran extensive commentary around the racial motives and implications of the shooting.

> Israel's Defense Ministry announced Monday that it had delivered three more armored ambulances to Ukraine's emergency services, given Russia's nearly year-long invasion of the country.

> Jerusalem has so far avoided providing direct military aid to Kyiv - including offensive arms or advanced defensive technology - since Russian troops invaded Ukraine on February 24 last year, in an attempt to avoid sparking a crisis with Moscow.

> Israel has provided defensive equipment to Ukraine's emergency and rescue forces, as well as tons of humanitarian aid and setting up a field hospital in western Ukraine for several weeks.
