They can’t do much about it. Israel has nukes and the US security council vote basically gives Israel immunity.

The US isn't going to invade China.
So that leaves fighting Chinese forces in Taiwan and in and around the various island chains.
The USMC has now gotten rid off all of their tanks, reducing the number of F-35s that they're buying.... In order to increase their ability to fight in the Pacific. With weapons such as self-driving trucks launching Norwegian/Naval Strike Missile. Which is an anti-ship missile and later versions also have a land attack capability. So the USMC expects to get involved in a shooting war.

Yes. Mossad prevented a major terrorist attack in Australia couple years back. They also prevented a terror attack in Germany just recently. it's the second biggest intelligence service after the CIA.

Nobody, at least in my opinion, seems to think that Russia is abiding by any treaties. One has to wonder if their nuclear arsenal is even operational or in any kind of good repair given the state of their army. They could use a few silos to occasionally flaunt their bluster. However, given the expense of maintenance, you have to assume that not all of them are working.

There's no guarantee that Erdogan won't just make up a new obstacle Finland has to overcome if they tried that. Finland as a nation would rather not be swept up in the political election games for some wannabe dictator and be forced to make unnecessary sacrifices. Best to cut the political bullcrap and just wait until after Turkey has had their elections

It's about how ScoMo handled the situation. Macron had the impression that the deal was still on, even with issues in the contract. And when ScoMo was confronted about it, he showed private text messages between him and Macron, which enraged Macron even further.
And amongst all that, the French lost the contract to nothing really. Our replacement contract is a dud. We don't know what we are getting, how many we are getting, when we are getting them and how much they will cost.
Oh and those French subs were originally nuclear subs that Australia insisted on modifying to diesel.
So, tell me, how can the French not be salty about losing the contract?

Not only did I read the article, I can guarantee I know more about the situation than you given I've got a front row seat to the whole fucking mess since it started.
But tell me again that don't know shit about Australian politics without telling me you don't know shit about Australian politics.
THE COALITION IS THE LIBERAL-NATIONAL COALITION, THE MAJORITY OF WHICH ARE MEMBERS OF THE LIBERAL PARTY. THE WORD DOES NOT MEAN THE SAME THING IN AUSTRALIA.

There is already enough nuclear missile to destroy the world many times over so if Russia want to create ever more powerful nuke they can try but first they will be saddled with reparation payment to Ukraine, rebuilding their own military, root out endemic corruptions and so on.
Where's the money coming from, eh?

You would think security and intelligence agencies within Canada would actually stay close to this. I mean, these sort of "joint research" obviously will leak important results to China, right?

It's not that Israel doesn't want to upset Russia. It's simply that Israel wants access to Syrian air space which Russia owns.

well damn
its almost like rejecting longstanding principals of international law like national sovereignty and human rights, and substituting them for such diplomatic tools as - *checks notes*
- meaningless saber rattling and the general erosion of truth and fact in favor of authoritarian myth-making (shit, really? this is what they came up with?) could turn you into an international pariah.
Who knew?
Just keep threatening to nuke/declare war on everybody though unless you get exactly what you want. I'm sure this time that'll work

Reply to comment by MalusSylvestris in Australia and France announce joint plan to supply Ukraine with artillery shells by TheGuvnor247
Australia literally made public comments one year piror to the contract cancellation stating they were looking at alternative options. The contract underperformance was widely known and the actual cancellation didn't really come the surprise of anyone - the French just thought it was "too big to fail" so to speak.
Now, you might be able to argue the French were correct that Australia wouldn't cut its losses and terminate the contract if the nuclear sub deal wasn't on the cards. However, it's hardly the fault of Australia if it makes the desire to seek alternative options known and another viable option is presented.
If France cared that much, they should have dealt with the underperformance. It's like a business failing to deliver their services to an adequate standard, and then getting pissed off because the client went to another company. That's how business works. France gambled that Australia wouldn't have any other option than to throw good money after bad, and they lost that bet.
