Yes, but 25 people just died when their bus fell of a cliff. The entire conversation was about bus alternatives…
Then i mentioned my friend had a hard time hiking it, and that there is actually a train. Trains don’t typically fall off of mountains so…

At least in Tokyo they're still very much expected everywhere inside and even walking on the sidewalks. Big cities' schools are expecting them to be worn as well.

Reply to comment by FullM3TaLJacK3T in Australia and France announce joint plan to supply Ukraine with artillery shells by TheGuvnor247
One year isn't enough notification for Macron? The reality is that his advisors likely told him that Australia was unlikely to terminate due to no other viable options, and consequently the contract underperformance wasn't a huge deal. That turned out to be incorrect.
>And amongst all that, the French lost the contract to nothing really. Our replacement contract is a dud.
It's safe to say you don't understand the American defense industry if you are making this comment. The only concerning barrier is how quickly Australia can acquire the trained workforce to operate the nuclear submarines.
>Oh and those French subs were originally nuclear subs that Australia insisted on modifying to diesel.
I don't agree with the logic here. Australia always had specified they were looking for diesel-electric submarines. DCNS (aka the French Naval Group) responded to that request with a modified nuclear design.
With that said, fault does exist with Australia because in the end they should have better verified that DCNS had the capability of delivering on the contract. In retrospect, the Japanese/German bids likely would have been better in that regard.
>So, tell me, how can the French not be salty about losing the contract?
That's the entire problem. It was a busines decision. The French got way too emotional about the contract being revoked because there's no separation between the state and the arms industry, and the performance of said industry is basically part of their national identity now.

Fundamentally, how is Iran selling Russia weapons any different than NATO arming Ukraine?
Not defending Russia/Iran, but if you want to escalate providing weapons to direct involvement the implications are clear what that means.

>(less regulations).
>Yes less regulations and I know for a fact
Then you should know the regulations of the country of origin doesn't matter. If they want to sell to the US, Japan, or EU they'll need to meet regulatory standards. It's pretty tough for a pharmaceutical to be profitable if it's not available to ICH compliant countries.

Israel would of course take help in the form of weapons like Ukraine is getting. I'm not entirely sure Iran wants this though, as it would be mean Hezb getting destroyed and them losing significant cold power. Although, I'm not a huge political buff but that's just what I see happening. Once Hezb does anything, it gives Israel the chance to remove the biggest threat. It also means that I'm in danger because I live near the border

Yeah I get it. When I was last in Japan i would say maybe 30% of the time I saw someone without a mask they were a foreigner. The others are mostly the elderly who just don't care.
Given foreigners make up a tiny fraction of Japan's population, that 30% is significant. I'm in PH now and I would bet less than 25% of white people I see wear masks.

Reply to comment by Stoly23 in Haavisto: Finland has patience to wait for Nato membership — with Sweden. by parandroidfinn
It would be an even bigger blow to all the values Finland holds dear if they bended to Turkey now and abandoned Sweden. That will only happen if they are 100% certain Turkey will never let Sweden in. It's still election season in Turkey, I can almost guarantee that Erdogan would milk that situation for all it's worth and would make impossible demands from Finland as well. The fact that Erdo said that he wouldn't means less than nothing. It's just not worth it. Both Finland and Sweden can afford to wait until July and let cooler heads prevail

They are, they just can't do anything about it. They have enough domestic issues that attempting more outward military actions while also trying to support their comrades to the North would most likely start spreading them too thin.
