You do realize there are more options than NATO, ruzzia, or strict neutrality, right? That countries are capable of signing mutual defense treaties outside of NATO? Sweden and Finland can each or both sign mutual defense treaties with the US and other NATO members independently, and use that as the same level of safety that NATO can provide

Well dont mind us making our own nuclear bombs then that U.S fought us on. At this point it feels like some are more interested in giving Russia the middlefinger than the actual safety of these countries. You should know by now they intend to use those nuclear on us, so we would be held hostage in that situation, without the protection we simply has to stay out meaning we cant have nato on our soil as that puts an target on us with no proper protection. What would deter them from trying then? Nothing really, we would be guessing, russia might be tempted and guess what, then we would absolutely have to make a hard choice and that's sad, because we do not want to be put in this position again but not surprised the zero care in this situation for the possible outcome of such a sollution and what would happen to all us us, it would affect everyone. And you bring in Iceland they dont fucking have a military.

> Except I haven't seen any examples of that.

How did Russian troops disguised as independent mercenaries manage to invade and conquer Crimea in 2014 with hardly any resistance from the local defence forces?

If they'd believed the invaders were independent, they'd have fought. No army surrenders their country to nameless bandits.

That they didn't fight is evidence they knew the invaders were backed by Moscow. Which is evidence that Moscow suborned them before the invasion began.

> German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Brazil's freshly inaugurated President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva traded barbs late Monday on who's responsible for Russia's invasion in Ukraine, as the latter suggested that Kyiv could also be at fault.

> Following the amicable start of a joint press conference, in which the Brazilian president said that he wants to finalize the EU trade deal "By the end of the current semester," the mood turned sour after Lula raised the war in Ukraine and rejected Germany's appeal to support Kyiv with weapons and ammunition.

> He also rejected the possibility that Brazil could help Ukraine to fend off Russian missile or drone attacks by selling its units of the German-made Gepard air defense tanks along with corresponding ammunition: "Brazil has no interest in handing over munitions that can be used in the war between Ukraine and Russia," Lula said.
