No one knew who this Russian prisoner was before he was in the talks to be released. I’m sure there are more. If there aren’t more, there can be in the future. Also, it’s not ONLY prisoner exchanges that happen. Russians can ask for different trades. When we don’t have to be in Russia for reliable news it makes less sense to put ourselves in the position to HAVE to trade

The Catholic Church has become very progressive recently. It takes a lot of forward thinking to acknowledge that abusing people, based on the land they are from, might be wrong sometimes. With this kind of quick change, I think in the very near future, maybe as soon as 2300, they may acknowledge that it is kinda bad for them to abuse children and women in general./s (just in case)

It’s so true. I think about this constantly and wonder - how are we not rioting in the streets over this? Pulling a Boston tea party and dumping oil…. somewhere that would render it useless without damaging the environment. Going on nationwide strikes to demand better pay, benefits, and worker rights. I’d like to think we are getting to that point, but god damn we are slow. The French would have rioted decades ago if this happened there lol

Professionals at the highest level of their craft often accept a higher level of risk than a normal person would consider prudent.

It doesn't matter if its Jim Cantore standing in a hurricane, dodging the tree limbs, or a journalist standing behind enemy lines cataloging the illegal actions as the freedom to do so erodes beneath him.

Don't bother engaging, my read on them is they aren't interested in a good faith discussion, they're here to collect upvotes while arguing:

> I don't know why you think I'm trying to come up with a solution. I'm not trying to solve any problem or even insinuate that I'm solving a problem.

in response to me saying the below quote from their original comment won't work:

> If we can learn to work together on a bartering system again, the whole idea of money would go away and these people would have zero power. We give them the power. Why we do that? I do not know because we are dumb.

They're trying to pretend they're just offering observations after literally saying bartering is the solution to wealth inequality. I'm assuming they're some unhinged /r/iamverysmart teenager who has fully bought into the idea of anarcho-libertarianism as a realistic and legitimate political position held back by the brainwashed masses too stupid to realize they're being lead on by the evil capitalists.

How ready can you be, though? Like has everyone started building bunkers or something?

If a MAD situation happened I feel like all you can really do is duck and cover and then try to survive fallout and ruined infrastructure with your own supply of food and medical supplies. Hospitals and transit would be fucked so if you’re injured or sick you’ll probably die and grocery stores won’t be stocked/can’t grow food on irradiated/burnt rubble piles so you’ll get hungry and die
