Calling him an idiot is not fair at all.
To go to any country from Russia, you're supposed to cross the Russian border with passport control. The Russian guards would probably detain him there.
But Russian-Belarus border is an exception, it's kind of transparent, like a border between two EU countries. There could be some occasional checks, but more often than not you just cross it without being asked for the documents.
Once in Belarus, he could try and cross, say, Belarus-Polish border, less risk.
His plan didn't pan out, but it was probably the best plan he could have had.

The s300 used in "ground" mode, uses an INS and contrast identification during it's terminal phase. It's still guided, albeit badly. The S300 is also much faster than the jet engine on a cruise missile.

Are you being sincere, or sarcastic? I'm aware that each argument should be taken on its merits, but you might consider that the quality of this theory about a vague wealthy elite who engaged in various evil manipulations over a vague span of time is comparable to other theories that the same person has about UFOs (or UAPs, as the cranks call them these days in order to avoid looking like cranks). This question remains unanswered.

Reply to Abusive working conditions endemic in Spain’s strawberry farms, report claims | Global development by Brian_Doctor
I remember driving through Almeria a couple of summers ago. It was shocking. Hundreds of small shacks, stuck together, made with black plastic, under the scorching sun, Almería is often over 35°c the hottest months and even over 40°c many days. Stuck in the middle of miles of fields, no facilities nearby. And mostly African men working in the fields. It was like landing in another era. It is pure slavery. Us European's vegetable and fruit garden. Nice and cheap and tucked away were we don't really have to see it or think about it.

Absolutely. Moscow and St Petersburg already plunder all the natural wealth/resources of the ethnic regions and the far east in any case.

Tell that to s300 missiles (used as dumb ballistic ones) that are regularly used to bomb kharkiv and are very rarely shot down in contrast to cruise missiles.
