I once saw an SUV with a front facing baby car seat with a small child in the front seat. It keeps swerving in it’s lane and into others and I caught a glimpse through the side mirror of a hand holding a novel as they were driving. Yeah, there are some really terrible people driving that.

I don’t think after an accident is a good time. The simple reason is their car is banged up in a ditch. Their already occupied with insurance and recovery so I actually think another ticket on top of that would be lost on that type of person. You’d have to do something before they got in the accident so perhaps enforcement beforehand that is harder to ignore.

Perhaps a state mandated insurance increase if you get in an accident without the proper traction devices. It’s something you could advertise ahead of time and most people are price sensitive and might actually pay attention.

A home with a server rack? Sounds expensive. Pretty good idea though. I was thinking about our dryer vent and how to capture that wasted heat in the colder months.

I was just looking at the Google server building here in my area and it’s really too bad we can’t build something next to it to take advantage of the heat it generates to cool the servers. The same would be useful for hydrogen, if we could just put a useful business next door that needs the heat, we could start being more efficient.

You don’t rank them last, you don’t rank them at all. Essentially that is a vote against them because your vote will go to someone else no matter what. The best part is it allows for third party candidates. You don’t like your party candidate? No problem, you can vote for a different person first and if that person doesn’t end up getting it, you might get your second or third choice but they would still be much better than getting the person you felt you should use your vote to vote against.

It should actually be easier for a third party to get votes. In an area where one party has more voters, that second round might actually be more valuable to the voter who is from the party with fewer voters in that district. They may not get their first choice, but their second choice would be better for them than no choice at all. The likely second choice would be more moderate but that is still a better choice for a voter than someone completely opposite of what they want.

Early on, this would allow many more candidates to be on the ballot. Perhaps your favorite didn’t make it on the ballot normally because it’s difficult to stand out. This could give them more of an opportunity because you wouldn’t have to throw your vote away to vote against someone else. You would select your favorite, then perhaps the candidate you think is tolerable and more likely to win. Not damaging either candidates chances but actually voting the way you really want to.

In colder portions of our house, we use an electric oil heater. It’s mobile and it heats the surrounding area and doesn’t seem to be as expensive. That’s a quick fix and you are generally not trying to heat the entire house, just the areas that you are occupying. Couple that with an electric blanket to directly heat you while sleeping.

Heat pumps and gas furnace like others have said are more long term and expensive fixes but worth it over time. It sounds like though you may need to assess where you are losing heat and see if you can shore up insulation and cracks since that will be a problem for any fix.
